JWOC 2015 Training camp – Camp 4-7th August 2014

In 2015, Norway hosts Junior World Orienteering Championship for the first time. Venue is Rauland!

Welcome to the second training camp organized by the Norwegian Orienteering Association (www.orientering.no) in collaboration with local JWOC organizers ( OL & IL Dyre Vaa) in Rauland, , Norway. The main target group is orienteerers between 16 and 19 years, but the camp is open for all keen orienteerers seeking challenges and progress. You will get beautiful mountain forests, good maps and top quality trainings.

Training intensity is mostly planned to be moderate, focus is on learning how to orienteer in this kind of terrain, maps and courses.

Evening lectures by Norwegian national team runners will focus on orienteering techniques and skills in these terrains.

Lunch at Vierli (our accomodation site) before departure

Price: NOK 1700 per person including accomodation with breakfast, packed lunch and dinner. Price for trainers / coaches following the athletes: NOK 1400 Maps only: NOK 300 (own accommodation)

Lectures: Lectures by Norwegian senior national team members. Remember to bring your own GPS watch to the training camp, and to use it in all trainings.

Transport to and from Rauland: Private cars are recommended. It is possible to go by NOR-WAY bus express from Oslo to Åmot Kro and further with local bus til Rauland. Please notify us if you need local transportation in Rauland. Travel recommendations at www.jwoc2015.org or www.visitrauland.com.

Climate: Rauland is in the Norwegian mountains. We hope for sun and temperatures around or even above 20 °C, but it might be windy and rainy with temperatures below 10 °C. Bring appropriate clothes to wear before, during and after all trainings. You will get one plastic bag for map protection to be reused on all easy trainings.

Bedsheets and cabin cleaning: All must bring bedsheets, hire involved an extra cost of NOK 150. The cabins are to be cleaned and washed properly; otherwise an extra cost of NOK 1000 per cabin will be invoiced.

Personal trainers/team leaders: All participants are recommended to take part together with their personal trainer, club coach or team leader.

It is possible to travel to Rauland and run all trainings after Camp Norway week if the Camp Norway dates do not suit you or your team. However, it is not possible to run these trainings before the Camp Norway participants. Official JWOC 2015 trainings will be available from 15 June, please see www.jwoc2015.org for details.
