  • Nagroda Im. H. Ch. Andersena Nagroda
Nagroda im. H. Ch. Andersena Nagroda za wybitne zasługi dla literatury dla dzieci i młodzieży Co dwa lata IBBY przyznaje autorom i ilustratorom książek dziecięcych swoje najwyższe wyróżnienie – Nagrodę im. Hansa Christiana Andersena.

  • Literature and Literacy
Literature and Literacy Roselmina Indrisano Boston University School of Education © 2008 Roselmina Indrisano 2 Introduction This annotated bibliography includes fifty books in the narrative genre that were selected for young readers. Each book or author is the recipient of one or more of the following awards: Caldecott and Newbery Awards, the American Library Association Notable Book Award, and the Coretta Scott King Award. The books are appropriate for readers in the first through sixth grades, with an approximately even distribution among the levels. Each entry in the bibliography includes: the complete reference; the level, as determined by The Fountas-Pinnell Leveled Book List K-8 (Heinneman, 2006) or the Fry Readability Formula (Fry, 1977); the awards; and three teaching ideas that are coded to selected standards in the Massachusetts English Language Arts Frameworks . A list of these standards is provided on page 52. In the few instances where the language and the structure of the text are more complex than the concepts, there is a note in the annotation to suggest that the book is suitable for reading aloud to younger learners. One of the teaching ideas for each book focuses on poetry. The number in parentheses that follows refers to the poetry anthology where the poem is published. The list of poetry anthologies is on pages 53-54. The author acknowledges, with gratitude, the assistance of Irene Papadopoulos Duros and Christine Leighton. Ms. Papadopoulos Duros reviewed the manuscript and computed the Fry readability formula for books that were not entered on the Fountas-Pinnell list. Ms. Leighton reviewed and summarized the literature on children’s reading interests that informed the selection of the books.

As the "guests" are murdered one-by-one with the methods Esperanza Rising by Pam Muñoz Ryan Esperanza thought she'd always live like a princess on their Mexican ranch, but disaster strikes, and her life starts over in the U.S. Hatchet by Gary Paulsen Thirteen-year-old Brian Robeson is on his way to visit his father when the single engine plane in which he is flying crashes. Suddenly, Brian finds himself alone in the Canadian wilderness with nothing but his clothing, a tattered windbreaker, and the hatchet his mother has given him as a present — and the dreadful secret that has been tearing him apart ever since his parents' divorce. But now Brian has no time for anger, self-pity, or despair — it will take all his know-how and determination, and more courage than he knew he possessed, to survive. Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell Left alone on a beautiful but isolated island off the coast of California, a young Indian girl spends eighteen years, not only merely surviving through her enormous courage and self- reliance, but also finding a measure of happiness in her solitary life. • Summer Reading Assignment for Students Entering 6Th Grade
Summer Reading Assignment for Students Entering 6th Grade Dear Student and Parent, Summer break is almost here! It is a wonderful time for rest, relaxing fun, adventures, and….and….and the opportunity to READ, READ, READ!! My hope is that you will be excited and truly enjoy what you are reading. It is an important time to help you, as a reader, maintain the skills learned during the year. Reading every day will help advance current reading levels and create the habit of lifelong reading and learning. For this summer, I am requiring that you read two books, one I choose and one that you choose that is at least 200 pages long. Book One (my choice): A Night Divided by Jennifer A Nielsen Book Two (your choice): Choose one book to read. I have provided a list of suggestions, but you are welcome to read any other book as long as it is at least 200 pages long. Please be prepared to do an in class assignment during our first week of 6th grade. Lastly, you are always welcome to read more! As you get to know me, you will hear my favorite saying: “Always do more, never do less”. I am looking forward to our year of English together. Have a terrific summer!!! Mrs. Jeffries “Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.” – Charles William Eliot “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ― Dr.
