22, Nov 2017 Special Cover of Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium Released 22, Nov 2017 Special cover of Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium released Department of Post : India released special cover of Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium on 11th November 2017 at Rajkot. It is indeed matter of pride for everyone in Saurashtra that their stadium is notably recognised by India Post. The special cover has graphic picture of the stadium, highlighting its signature the Media Box. Some of Special Covers are stamped by the stamp of Legend Sachin Tendulkar. Back of this cover has pictures of Stamps of Legendary Jam Ranji and Vinoo Mankad. Shri Niranjan Shah, former Hon. Secretary of BCCI and Saurashtra Cricket Association was the Chief Guest. Shri B P Sarangi, Post Master General , Rajkot Region presided over the function. Shri Niranjan Shah also inaugurated the Philately Exhibition, Rajpex 2017 today at Dr. Shayma Prasad Art Gallery, Race Course, Rajkot. The Special Cover of Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium was released in presence of Shri Niranjan Shah, Shri B P Sarangi, Shri Madhukar Worah (Hon. Joint Secretary SCA) and other dignitaries, guests and students. In his speech, Shri Niranjan Shah profoundly thanked Department of Post : India for recognising the stadium. He added that this Special Cover will add up to pride and prestige of Cricket of Saurashtra. Shri B P Sarangi, Post Master General, Rajkot in his speech gave brief details of the Stadium and much appreciated the design, facilities and infrastructure of the Stadium. He added that the stadium was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister (at the time Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat) Shri Narendra Modi on 6th January 2013. The foundation stone too was laid by him in presence of legendry Kapil Dev and other dignitaries on 19th January 2006. Rajpex 2017, Philately Exhibition has had some of the most rare and exclusive collections of special covers, stamps etc. The exhibition was open for two days, 11th and 12th November 2017. Many of stamp/special cover collectors visited this excellent exhibition. Saurashtra Cricket Association sincerely appreciate everyone in General Post Office, Rajkot for their immense efforts .

Shri Niranjan Shah, former Hon. Secretary of BCCI fondly remembers that during his tenure of Hon Secretary of BCCI, Dhoni was selected to be Skipper of Team India. “He fully fulfilled trust and faith BCCI bestowed upon him, not only as one of the best Wicket Keeper & Captain in the World, but also as legendary player in every format of Cricket.

Mr. Niranjan Shah, former Hon. Secretary of BCCI & Saurashtra Cricket Association has been bestowed with prestigious Gujarat Ratna Award by Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat Shri Acharya Devvratji and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Vijaybhai Rupani during celebration of 71st Republic Day for his priceless & significant contributions in the World of Cricket. Niranjan Shah was elected as Hon. Jt. Secretary of BCCI for the year 1992 - 93. He was elected as Board’s Hon. Secretary for the year 2001- 02 and was again elected as Hon. Secretary of BCCI in November 2005. In September 2006, in a most prestigious and uncontested election, Niranjan Shah has been re-elected as the Board’s Hon. Secretary for a further term of two years. This re-election speaks volumes of his ability, efficiency and dynamism. He has rendered his services effectively and meaningfully in many committees of BCCI, such as Finance, Technical, Marketing, Programme & Fixture, World Cup 2011. From 2010 to 2013, he served as BCCI’s Vice President. He also served as Vice Chairman of prestigious IPL. Shah’s long cherished dream of having Cricket stadium fulfilled in 2013 when it was inaugurated by then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Narendra Modi. The Stadium is well designed and conceptulised by Niranjan Shah himself. Shah believes in having best possible infrastructure for Cricket. The stadium is well equipped with all required Cricketing facilities.
