Clear Creek Canyon Park Peaks to Plains Trail, Mouth of the Canyon Project THE PEAKS TO PLAINS TRAIL VISION The vision of the Peaks to Plains Trail is a 65-mile corridor that follows Clear Creek from its headwaters at Loveland Pass on the Continental Divide down to the confluence with the South Platte River north of Denver. Once completed, it will serve more than 3 million Front Range residents, connecting four counties and seven cities, with a total elevation gain of more than 1 mile. The 16.5-mile Clear Creek Canyon segment of the Peaks to Plains Trail includes a 3-mile stretch of trail that opened in July 2016 with an additional three quarters of a mile that opened August 2017. This legacy trail project will offer visitors a truly quintessential Colorado experience and thus, warranted Governor Hickenlooper’s designation as one of the 16 highest priority trail projects in the state through the Colorado the Beautiful Initiative. Historic Welch Ditch Wooden Flume MOUTH OF THE CANYON SEGMENT Jeffco Open Space started on the second segment LANDSCAPED SCREENING BERM WITH RETAINING of the Clear Creek Canyon stretch in 2018 with a WALLS SHORT-TERM PARKING FOR PICNIC AREA WITH VISITORS contract for design from the east entrance of the OPTIONAL SHADE SHELTERS canyon at the intersection of US 6/Hwy 58/Hwy 93, (RE: BIG EASY DESIGN) west to Tunnel 1.
