The MASS IN B-MINOR stands today as a testament to COMMITTEES Bach's genius and his dedication to sacred music. Young vocalists and instrumentalists Emily McMinn, vice-president Harriet Slomp, secretary will be featured and you are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. Coffee and tea will be served. Concert Stetson Chapel The popular Young Artists' Concerts were introduced in 1965 as a means of Sonata No. I in g minor for Violin (BWV 1001) J.S.Bach recognizing the talent and dedication of young people who explore and Adagio perform music of the Baroque era and especially that of J. S. Bach and the Fuga Bach family of musicians. Today's performers received the highest ratings Stephen Yun of the thirty finalists who were adjudicated on Saturday, February 4. II Sonata in E Major, No.6 (BWV 1035} J.S.Bach Mr. Stephen Yun, 17 years of age, is a student of Gerardo Ribeiro and stu Adagio ma non troppo died previously with Alec Catherwood. He is concertmaster of the Midland Allegro High School Orchestra and a member of the Midland Symphony Orche$tra. Siciliano Allegro assai Mr. Peter Shoun, 20 years of age, is a student of Charles Osborne. He is Peter Shoun, flute from Bronson and is attending Western Michigan University. Victor Galea, cello Carol Perry, harpsichord Miss Amy Reimer, from Muskegon, is 19 years old and studies organ with Troy Carpenter. In 1975, she won first place award (best organist under J. S. Bach Ill Prelude and Fugue in G Major (BWV 541) 21) in "Beautiful Ohio National Competition." She is the organist at North Amy Reimer, organ Muskegon Methodist Church and teaches at Don Nellis Organ/Piano Studio. IV "Agnus Dei" from MASS IN B-MINOR (BWV 232) J.S. Bach Mrs. Tina Sandor Bunce, from Oxford, is 22 years old and a senior at Olivet Tina Bunce, mezzo-soprano College, studying voice with Emily Byrens. She performed in the Bach Fes Denise Denning, violin tival in Basil, doing the B-MINOR MASS during the Collegium Musicum's Margaret Byrens, cello trip to Europe. Emily Byrens, organ The Misses Cheryl Dannecker, Martha Davenport and Michelle Smith attend Western Michigan University and study flute with Charles Osborne. Cheryl, INTERMISSION 21 years old, is from Merrill. Martha, 21 years old, is from W. Bloomfield, majoring in Secondary Music Education, and is a member of the Tuesday Musicale Student League of Detroit. Michelle, also 21 years of age, from V Quartet in d moll G. Ph. Telemann Ann Arbor, is majoring in Music Education. Largo Andante Mr. Paul Diebold, is a student at Grand Ledge High School and has per Vivace formed as soloist with the Lansing Junior Symphony. He is 17 years old Cheryl Dannecker, Martha Davenport and Michelle Smith, flutes and studies cello with Louis Potter. Victor Galea, cello Kathleen Tollefson, harpsichord Mr. John O'Brien, from Wyandotte, is 22 years old, and studies organ with Corliss Arnold. This spring he will receive degrees in Sacred Music and VI Concerto in c minor Johann Christian Bach Chorale Education from Michigan State University. He also dedicated an Allegro organ at Saint Katherine's Episcopal Church in Williamston. Saturday, February 25, 1978 8:00P.M. Concert Stetson Chapel Miss Susan Collins is 16 years old and attends Sturgis High School. She Concerto in E minor for Bassoon, Strings and studies bassoon with William Allgood and is a member of the Kalamazoo Antonio Vivaldi Harpsichord, P. 137 Junior Symphony. Andante Allegro Susan Collins, bassoon Dee Wall, Ann Jeans and James Pryzgocki, violin I Miss Cathleen Lynam, 18 years of age, attending Wayne State University, Dorothy Mason and Cathy Claes, violin II is presently studying flute with Clement Barone and has also studied with Tina Jennings and Jayne Weaver, viola Diane Richardson and Victor Galea, cello Joanne Peters. She was first chair flute in Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Inter Cathi Montgomery, double bass national Band in 1975 and International Youth Symphony in 1976. Carrie Monette, harpsichord William Allgood, conductor II Sonata in A moll Fur FlUte Allein Karl Philipp Emmanuel Bach Mr. Steven Kuerbitz, from Midland, is a pre-med student at Albion College. He is 20 years old and studies organ with Albert Bolitho. Poco Adagio Allegro Allegro Miss Lindsay Rundles is a senior music major at Kalamazoo College and Cathleen Sue Lynam studies voice with Donna Haymans. She is 22 years old and her home town Ill Toccata inC Major (BWV 564) J.S. Bach is Flint. She has performed as a soloist with choral organizations while Steven Kuerbitz, organ at college. Kantate Nr. 30 Verbirg Nicht deine holden Strahlen IV Ms. Michelle La Course, 18 years old, is from Traverse City. She is principal Johann Christoph Frauenholtz violist of the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra, and studies with David Moderato Recitative Holland. She was concerto soloist with Northwestern Michigan Symphony Allegro in 1975 and 1976, finalist in the 1977 Julius Stulberg Auditions and also Lindsay Rundles, mezzo-soprano Deborah Stucky, violin finalist in the Interlochen Arts Academy Concerto Competition in 1976-77. Kerry Geffert, organ V Concerto en La mineur Karl Philipp Emmanuel Bach Mr. David Thomas, from Grosse Pointe Woods, is a freshman at Kalamazoo Allegro assai College. He studies trumpet with Gerald Reed and was a former student of Andante Carolyn Curtis. He is 18 years of age. In 1975 he performed as soloist with Michelle La Course, viola Julianne Borsodi, cello the Grosse Pointe Junior Symphony and in 1977 with the Grosse Pointe Kenneth Dake, harpsichord North High School Symphony Orchestra. INTERMISSION Mrs. Ruth Hollebeek Bylsma, 23 years old, from Grand Rapids, formerly studied with Darlene Dugan and is presently a student of Israel Boruchoff. VI Concerto en sol Mineur pour trompette et orchestra J.S.Bach She was principal flute in the World Youth Symphony at Interlochen in 1972 Moderato as well as the Calvin College Orchestra for four years. She is a member of Adagio Presto the Grand Rapids Symphony and flute instructor at Calvin College and David Thomas, trumpet Grand Valley State Colleges.
