Fishing Lines

by Gapt. Mike Fuery

We anglers are always looking for something new which will improve our fish catching chances and that thing at the furthest end of the line, the hook, has taken on some very interest- ing developments in the past year or so. If there ever was a standard hook for our local saltwater fishing, the Mustad cadmium and tinned series of hooks in sizes 11/0 to 5/0 have caught all that is catchable in our waters. These are the no frills, get-the-job-done hooks which just about every marina or bait shop carry. A pack of 100 hooks usually runs under $8. and for anyone who isn't a guide, that should last a year Photo by Anne Bellew Experts say red tide now an "outgoing" tide; see related story on page 3.
