IN-KIND SUPPORT 6 | LETTER FROM THE CHAIRMAN AND THE PRESIDENT| MGLS 2014

Welcome to the Meridian Global Leadership Summit – a unique forum where Ambassadors, policy makers, CEOs, and business leaders come together to discuss solutions to the most complex challenges facing the world, countries, and organizations. As a premier global leadership organization, Meridian provides leaders with the programs, approach, and environment so that they can better understand global issues and cultures, collaborate on solutions, and build valuable relationships. Now in its third year, the Meridian Global Leadership Summit is the forum for leaders who want to better understand the factors – social, cultural, political, and economic – which directly impact their success as they navigate an increasingly complex global market. At the center of today’s discussions are the findings of the Global States of Mind: New Metrics for World Leaders. Developed by Gallup, this report captures perceptions from 160 countries around the world, based on distinct quality of life measures including employment-to-salary rates, well-being, food affordability, and safety. Unlike other surveys which capture what people “think” based on quantitative economic measures, this unique survey captures how people “feel” about their leadership and their future. We are grateful to our Summit partners, Gallup and the Building and International Trade Center, and to our distinguished speakers for the expertise and perspectives which they will share during today’s discussions. We also extend our gratitude to our Ball and Summit Chairs Governor Jim Blanchard and Janet Blanchard, as well as the many corporate, government, and diplomatic leaders who have lent their generous support to advance Meridian’s mission. Finally, thanks to you, our guests, for taking the time to participate in today’s Summit. We hope that you will find these discussions stimulating and useful as you view the world’s and your own leadership challenges.

Sincerely,

Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez Ambassador Stuart W. Holliday Chairman President and CEO MGLS 2014 | SUMMIT SPEAKERS | 7
