With the largest land-area, one of the widest varieties of outdoor activities of any state park, and its proximity to Birmingham, Oak Mountain is a perfect stop while traveling to and from the state’s largest city. Topping it all off is the park’s stunning physical landscape, which alone makes for an unforgettable experience. With more than 50 miles of trails visitors have plenty of options to choose from be it a short loop or an overnight trip. The Red Trail has even been included on the International Mountain Biking Association’s (IMBA) list of EPIC rides. The park also features a pump track and BMX course. Flip Side Watersports opened in the summer of 2014 and is Alabama's first cable wakeboard park. They are located just inside the rear entrance of Oak Mountain State Park on Oak Mountain Lake. It is the largest outdoor music venue in Alabama. Seating capacity is 10,500. Parking lots open 4 hours prior to gate time. First-come, first-served. There is a fee for parking. Gate times vary, but are usually one hour prior to show time. Aldridge Gardens Group Tours Ask About Hydrangeas Field Trips Aldridge Gardens is a 30-acre woodland garden featuring hydrangeas nestled in the heart of Hoover. Complete with a six-acre lake and half mile walking trail, Aldridge Gardens is laden with many varieties of hydrangeas, camellias and other native Alabama plants. Other features include an event venue and gallery, an outdoor pavilion. The Gardens also host plant sales, art exhibits and shows, classes and seminars, bird walks, fishing days and more.
