refaire Article abstract redoing This paper proposes a model for the analysis of the contemporary trend of Number 28-29, Fall 2016, Spring 2017 redoing a cult movie as a television series. The analysis of the show Bates Motel (A&E, 2013–), chosen here as a primary example, is grounded in an URI: https://id.erudit.org/iderudit/1041077ar understanding of the series as a singular sphere integrated within the much DOI: https://doi.org/10.7202/1041077ar wider sphere of discourse initiated by the original film Psycho (1960), including its multiple media incarnations and apocryphal fan-made works. Bates Motel therefore incorporates an exploration of this media sphere. The paper traces See table of contents this phenomenon through Matt Hills’ concept of hyperdiegesis (Fan Cultures, Londres, Routledge, 2002), and Martin Lefebvre’s concepts of cultural series and the imaginary museum (Psycho: de la figure au musée imaginaire. Théorie Publisher(s) et pratique de l’acte de spectature, Montréal, Paris, L’Harmattan, 1997).
