2007 Coastal Carolina Volleyball 11 European Adventures C For two weeks in May, the Lady Chanticleers ventured to Eastern Europe and visited Hungary, Slove- nia, Austria and the Czech Republic. The team took part in several exhibition matches and even got to watch Spain and the Azerbaijan National Team play for the Spring Cup Championships. All quotes o were taken from the team’s trip blog and can be found online at GoCCUSports.com. a “Now this was a lot different. It seemed like an under- ground volleyball club. The court was really dark, the s T oor was ok, there were nets around the court on the outside, and not a lot of space for the fans. I didn’t think t there were going to be a lot of people there, but there were and they were crazy. One of the fans brought a a huge drum and was playing it when the crowd would cheer. There were probably about 150 people there l but it seemed like 1000, because they were so rowdy. ~Brett Starbuck

“After our lovely dinner we all headed off to a vol- C leyball match for the S nals of the Spring Cup. It was Azerbaijan versus Spain. The match went to S ve a games and Spain ended up winning the Spring Cup! There two teams were amazing. They had such pre- r cision and accuracy. They swing with great power. Games like these are so exciting and exhilarating to watch.” o ~Rachel Bonertz

l “Our tour guide Brooke gave Brett and me the challenge of getting her a ticket to ride on the underground. This i task seemed almost impossible at S rst because the whole thing was in German, but S ve minutes later we n found a small button that simply said ‘English’ and it made the whole process much, much faster.” a ~Ashley Scheible

“Before warm-ups began, Jill and I asked to join in with the girls on the Junior National Team and played short court. It was really fun because we all had the same reactions and since we didn’t understand we would just laugh.” ~Meagan Tracey
