Este domingo se celebra la fiesta de la "presentación" del Señor, popularmente le llamamos la fiesta de la candelaria, pero en realidad litúrgicamente es la Fiesta de la Presentación del Señor al templo, o sea Jesús como bebé a los 40 días de nacido fue llevado al templo para presentarlo y para la purificación de su Madre la Virgen María. El elemento de la luz por supuesto sigue presente como en Navidad Jesús es la luz del mundo, luz para las naciones , los pueblos que estaban en tinieblas han recibido una gran luz, eso es lo que refiere a la candelaria, Cristo Luz del mundo.. Jesús es el mensajero, Él es la esperanza para muchas naciones que estaban oprimidas, es una visión futura del profeta Malaquías, es como el cumplimiento del relato que escucharemos en el evangelio. Es una invitación a escuchar, poner atención al mensajero que habita cerca de nosotros. Interesa especialmente el "mensajero de la alianza", porque es una constante de la teología profética, aunque tenga los tonos apocalípticos de esta que nos ocupa. Pensar que Dios ha de enviar a alguien para que restaure la Alianza es como empezar de nuevo, como si la Alianza del Sinaí va no tuviera valor. Este es uno de los motivos por lo que fueron rechazados los profetas. La Alianza no es algo que acontece sin el compromiso de un pueblo por la justicia y el proyecto de Dios. Si no se vive la Alianza, esta se ha roto por parte del pueblo... Pero Dios siempre está empeñado en rehacer la Alianza y el proyecto de salvación con su pueblo. Nos ha traído la salvación y ha hecho posible nuestra reconciliación con Dios, destruyendo el mal (el diablo), dice el texto. Y especialmente es digno de fe, porque ha sabido vivir nuestra misma vida, sin sentirse alejado del pueblo y de sus miserias. Se ha de tener en cuenta que no era necesario que el niño fuera llevado al templo para cumplir con el precepto de esa ley de la purificación de la madre (cf Lv 12,1-8), porque lo de la presentación del niño no era algo requerido por la ley de Moisés. Se quiere, pues, mostrar que los padres de Jesús se atienen en todo a esa ley, y pretenden "consagrarlo al Señor" según lo quo establecía un precepto (Ex 13,2.12.15), con el rescate del primogénito (Ex 13,13; 34,20) ; aunque Lucas no dice expresamente que se llevara a cabo ese rescate así. Lo importante era poner de manifiesto que los padres de Jesús querían incardinar a su hijo a todo aquello que era considerado como una vida de fidelidad a Dios cumpliendo ciertos preceptos. No entramos en las palabras de Simeón a María, del signo de Jesús, bandera discutida, que habla de su historia concreta, de su predicación, de su experiencia de Dios, de sus ofertas de salvación a los pecadores. Y de la "espada" (cf Ez 14,17) de María, que es la espada de la palabra salvadora que lleva a la pasión. Sabemos que todo esto no ha podido formularse sino después de los acontecimientos de la Pascua. Porque, como todo el conjunto de Lc 1-2, esta es una escena programática que habrá de desarrollarse a lo largo de la vida de Jesús. Y no podemos olvidar que la historia concreta de Jesús es la historia de un Mesías rechazado. María, en ese momento, para Lucas, no solamente es una figura histórica, que lo es como madre que lleva a su hijo, sino que representa a la nueva comunidad que fiel a Dios, pasa desde su experiencia de la fidelidad a la ley a la experiencia de la fidelidad al Espíritu. Por eso la palabra de Jesús y su vida, es una espada de identidad para esta comunidad. Nuestra misión es reconocer al Mesías siempre y en toda circunstancia, Él es el prometido, Zacarías quien esperaba los cumplimientos de las escrituras, proclama que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios y alaba a Dios con un cantico. “bendito Sea el Señor Dios de Israel porque ha visitado y redimido a su pueblo…..”ese es el inicio de su cantico en San Lucas en el evangelio de hoy.
