Once toted as “one of the most complete and elaborate office buildings in the world”, the Ford Building has been an integral part of the fabric of downtown Detroit since its opening in 1908. Designed in the Chicago School tradition by legendary American architect Daniel Burnham during the peak of his career, this , once the tallest in the city, had the prestige of bringing the new era of the City Beautiful movement to Detroit’s bustling center. Clad in glazed terra-cotta with accents of white Italian marble, the original architectural exterior remains pristine today with its subtle Neo-Classical ornamentation.

Forward thinking to its core, the Ford Building was the first skyscraper in Detroit to be framed with steel--speaking to the city’s unsurpassed legacy and continued excellence as a vibrant center of innovation and technology. The Ford’s spirit of progress continues to embody its renovation today.
