If you are one of the 72,000 residents lucky enough to call one of our 26 towns home, you know what I mean. Here we support our local businesses, enjoy the creativity of many Ttalented artists and eat the products of our local farms. Life is sweet here. If you are a visitor to the area, let this directory be your guide to the best goods and services that Franklin County has to offer. The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce proudly supports our member businesses in strengthening our local economy. This became even more important as we all dealt with the challenges of COVID-19 this year. Our restaurants and retailers have found clever ways to adapt and continue to serve their customers. But they need you now more than ever. Please remember to eat and shop local whenever possible. In 2019, we launched The Franklin County Gift Card which is already accepted at well over two dozen local businesses. Please visit our website for more details on how to participate or where to purchase one. This member guide is just one of the many services the Chambers offers to fulfill our mission of strengthening and sustaining the economic and civic vitality of our region. This directory is distributed regionally to visitors and residents each year in an effort to bring maximum exposure to our member businesses. If you are not already a member and would like to join us, an application can be found in this directory and is available online at www.franklincc.org. You can also visit us anytime at 395 Main Street, Greenfield where our incredible staff is ready to help you. As one of the sixteen Massachusetts Regional Tourism Councils, part of our mission is to attract visitors to our area. The challenge to do this this year was met with a collaborative effort by the statewide RTC’s to launch a digital billboard campaign reminding people that it is safe to have an adventure right here in Massachusetts. Now is a great time to be a tourist in your own backyard! While our large events like the Green River Fest have been postponed, you can still enjoy plenty of outdoor recreation. Biking, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, skiing, cross country skiing, and fly fishing are all activities that can be safely enjoyed. And while CiderDays is not happening as we know it, you can take a self-guided Cider Trail through our beautiful landscape and experience the orchards and tasting rooms. We urge to get out and experience Franklin County in a whole new way! I want to take this opportunity to thank our incredible Board of Directors who give countless hours of their time to support our organization and our members. Especially this year, I relied upon them for assistance as we all tried to navigate the changing landscape of doing business during a pandemic. We also have dozens of very dedicated volunteers who are always willing to help us with events and at our Visitors Center and we cherish them as well. And, of course, a sincere thanks to our advertisers and to The Greenfield Recorder for your support of and assistance with this publication.
