VI TILLSAMMANS VERKSAMHETSBERÄTTELSE IF ELFSBORGS MISSION ATT UNDERHÅLLA OCH SKAPA ENGAGEMANG OCH STOLTHET HOS ALLA I SJUHÄRAD IF ELFSBORGS VISION ATT VINNA ÄNNU FLER TITLAR IMORGON IF ELFSBORGS KÄRNVÄRDEN UTMANARE – UNDERHÅLLANDE – PROFFSIGT ORDFÖRANDEN HAR ORDET TILLSAMMANS I SMÄRTA OCH FRAMGÅNG 2014 var ett smärtsamt år för IF Elfsborg. Vår manager och gode vän Klas Ingesson förde en ojämn kamp mot cancern och han lämnade oss i stor sorg och saknad den 29 oktober. Det var för oss i IF Elfsborg en väldigt stor förmån att få jobba med Klas under ett antal år. Hans fighting spirit, energi och starka vilja var egenskaper som aldrig ens sjukdomen rådde på. Vi kommer att bära med oss Klas insatser och personlighet i IF Elfsborg under många år framöver. Sportsligt blev året ett bra år med cupsegern som kronan på verket. Vi lyckades också förbättra vårt resultat i allsvenskan där vi slutade på en fjärde plats, vilket innebar ännu en medalj och samtidigt en hygglig chans till Europaspel 2015. Att klara av att nå en topplace- ring och en cupseger samtidigt som vi genomförde en stor omställ- ning av våra kostnader visste vi skulle bli en utmaning när vi gick in i 2014. Att vi lyckades med det känner jag stor stolthet och ödmjukhet inför. Att klara av att bromsa kostnader och samtidigt flytta fram positionerna när det gäller prestation är ett bevis på den starka kul- tur som finns i IF Elfsborg och är ett mycket gott betyg till samtliga medarbetare, spelare och ideellt arbetande. Att ha en sund ekonomi är fundamentalt viktigt i en elitidrottsför- ening och det är det som gör det möjligt för oss att fortsätta satsa. -
The Geopolitics of Nordic Television Drama
NORDICOM REVIEW Introduction Dark Screens: The geopolitics of Nordic television drama Pei-Sze Chow,I Robert A. Saunders,II & Anne Marit WaadeI I Media & Journalism, School of Communication and Culture, Aarhus University, Denmark II Department of History, Politics and Geography, Farmingdale State College (SUNY), USA This special collection of articles emerged from a two-day workshop on the topic “Nor- dic Noir, Geopolitics, and the North” held at Aarhus University, Denmark, 4–5 October 2018. Recognising the unabating popularity of the Nordic Noir genre, the workshop sought to extend current media-cultural discussions of Nordic crime television drama to critically assess how topical geopolitical developments both influence and are inter- rogated within these fictional narratives. The genesis of this workshop arose from the intersections between the research interests of this special issue’s three editors, building on Anne Marit Waade’s work on the production, aesthetics, and distribution of Nordic Noir television drama, Pei-Sze Chow’s research on the audiovisual representations of transnational regions in Scandinavia, and Robert A. Saunders’s scholarship on the popu- lar culture-world politics continuum, and more specifically his typology of geopolitical television. Over two days of presentations and discussions, participants worked to bridge the gap between diverse but cognate disciplines such as Scandinavian studies, film and television, literature, geography, and international relations (IR). Generously supported by the pan-Nordic research consortium ReNEW (Reimagin- ing Norden in an Evolving World), which is funded by NordForsk through the Nordic University Hubs initiative, our workshop brought together 21 researchers from across Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Poland, the US, and the UK. -

TELEVISION PRODUCTION in a Small Nation Screen Idea System EVA NOVRUP REDVALL Based on the notion that new Screen Ideas are shaped in the particular systems in which they emerge, my research has studied where makers of new television series come from and what they have been taught before moving into the industry, focusing on aspects around their talent, training and track record. I have analysed how new ideas relate to tastes, trends and traditions in the domain for television drama, and how the mandate, money and particular managerial ideas of broadcasters and production companies creating new content naturally infl uence and shape new series. I have previously analysed the particular production framework of DR in the book Writing and Producing Television Drama in Denmark: From The Kingdom to The Killing. The What Makes Danish Television Drama Series Travel? research project was an opportunity to also investigate how the recent interest in Danish television drama led to a number of other broadcasters now also focusing on producing television drama and the strategies behind these productions. My research has thus explored recent developments in Danish television drama through production studies of series such as Arvingerne/The Legacy, Borgen, Bron/The Bridge, Herrens veje/Ride Upon the Storm, The Team and the somewhat curious case of the ‘comfy crime’ series Midsomer Murders shooting its centennial episode, entitled “The Killings in Copenhagen”, in Denmark. -

Italy had taken the lead through an Ernie Brandts own goal but Brandts himself restored parity before Arie Haan struck the Netherlands' winner. • Italy have held the upper hand over the ensuing three decades, during which they have recorded two draws and six wins against the Oranje, including a penalty shoot-out triumph following a goalless semi-final at UEFA EURO 2000™. • Despite playing against ten men from the 34th minute when Gianluca Zambrotta was sent off, the tournament co-hosts paid the price for two missed penalties during normal time. -

Global Media Journal German Edition Vol. 5, No.1, Spring/Summer 2015 URN:nbn:de:gbv:547-201500291 Local Colour in German and Danish Television Drama: Tatort and Bron//Broen1 Susanne Eichner & Anne Marit Waade Abstract: The impact of place and locality in narrative media can be regarded as seminal for the medium’s function of communicating culture and negotiating societal discourses. As a result of the growing attention in globalisation theory and transnational considerations, space and place have become key issues to understanding the circulation of cultural commodities within an increasingly global and supra-national context. Taking the case of two popular contemporary European crime series, the German series Tatort and the Danish/Swedish series Bron//Broen, our aim is to focus on and carve out local colour as an aesthetic textual strategy, as well as relate it to a production context and to a broader discussion of the region/nation and the transnational/global. We argue that local colour can be located at three different levels: Firstly, on the level of representation as part of an overall narrative and aesthetic strategy that produces structures of appeal for the audiences. Secondly, within the frame of production, public broadcasting service, and policy that stage the general preconditions of cultural products. Thirdly, we regard locality as commodity and cultural consumption (e.g. branding, tourism, investments). Local colour and the representation of places evoke different concepts of imagined communities related to the regional and the national, but also the global and transnational. A Case Study of How Danish TV Drama Series Captured Television Viewers in the UK

Building on existing research on form and production values it adds a wide-ranging empirical case study, exploring the specific local conditions that led to the introduction of Danish series in the UK in 2011 and subsequent growth in UK audiences for Danish and other subtitled TV series. It reveals the multiplicity of factors contributing to the success of the early Danish serial imports, the interdependence of form, platform and audiences, and the imperative to rethink dominant theories of international programme flows. Key words Nordic noir; Danish TV drama series; UK television market; subtitled drama; transnational TV audiences; TV programme flows Introduction For the past five years, television scholars have been intrigued by the seemingly sudden and unexpected success of Danish TV drama series selling around the world, most notably to 159 countries in the case of Forbydelsen/The Killing (2007-12) or 67 in the case of political drama Borgen (2010-13) (Bondebjerg and Redvall, 2015). Unexpected because, as Pia Majbritt Jensen rightly notes, until the 2010s Denmark was seen as ‘at the periphery of the global TV market’ (2016), its exports limited to the Nordic region and, in the case of crime fiction also Germany.
