Of the three volumes in this series, Last Days is undoubtedly my least favorite one. The first issue featured has almost nothing to do with Frank Castle also The Punisher: Last Days Volume 3, of course, as the eponymous Punisher and does not even feature him at all; I was, to be frank no pun intendedbored. The graphic novel overall feels a lot less consistent than the first two volumes, with one character in particular behaving in a way that does not make any sense to me because it seems to be completely out of character. I unfortunately can't say any more than that without spoiling crucial plot developments. I also don't know how I feel about the ending; it is left intentionally ambiguous, and I guess that I was hoping for more closure. I have my own opinions regarding what happens at the very end, but I can't be certain because it is, as I said, ambiguous. What I do appreciate about Last Days is that it is brimming with action and excitement especially once I got past the first featured issue, which, as I said, I didn't much enjoymaking for a pretty quick read. I, by no means, hate Last Daysbut it is definitely, as previously stated, my least favorite volume of this series, which I think deserved to go out with a bigger bang. The flavor of the story itself though just didn't quite catch the essence of the character. The Punisher ends up in the middle east battling some terrorists when the Secret Wars thing hits the Earth and that's kinda it. I was very disappointed with that part. It almost looked like he creative team got caught off guard and had to come up with something quickly. If you are a big Punisher fan, you'll probably enjoy his volume. The Punisher has to ask himself what he's doing and why, and he's placed in the situation of being seen as Public Enemy Number One, when he's just doing what he can to protect society from violent criminals who want to kill and destroy others. The conclusion is a segway that feels odd and not strictly harmonious with the overall story arc of this series. The ending makes me question if this is Definitely the darkest book in this series.
