The 2016 Festival runs August 5-7, 2016 at Victory Gardens Theater, located at 2433 N Lincoln Avenue. INGITION’s six selected plays will be presented in a festival of readings and will be directed by leading artists from Chicago. This talented and devoted cast of players, artists, directors and technicians have been toiling through the winter months to prepare this wonderful piece of theatre to share with you, our humble audience. UAH Theatre is proud to be a part of this rich artistic community and privileged to offer this creative study to our students. David Harwell - Director About the Musical Winner of three Tony awards and one of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years, URINETOWN is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he’s had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, URINETOWN is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Greg Kotis had the idea for Urinetown while traveling in Europe.

From legendary American playwright, Thornton Wilder, comes the iconic story of life in Grover's Corners, a small town nestled in the Mount Monadnock region of New Hampshire. The play portrays a candid and romantic view of life in small town America during the early 20th Century. As the story progresses, the audience joins the residents of the community as they journey through birth, love, life and beyond. Winner of the 1938 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Our Town offers a fascinating analysis of the mystery and beauty that is the human experience. His name is Lyle, he only eats Turkish Caviar, and he quickly becomes a treasured member of the family. Unfortunately, Mr. Grumps, their nextdoor neighbor, is not so enthusiastic about having a crocodile on 88th Street. NEWS RELEASE FOR RELEASE WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6 ARIZONA THEATRE COMPANY NAMES SEAN DANIELS ARTISTIC DIRECTOR Sean Daniels, who in his youth was inspired toward a career in theatre after attending Arizona Theatre Company productions with his Mesa-based family, has come full circle by being named ATC’s new Artistic Director. Daniels spent the last five years as Artistic Director at Merrimack Repertory Theatre in Lowell, MA. Previously, he served as Associate Artistic Director at Actors Theatre of Louisville, home of the Humana Festival of New American Plays. Both theatres are members of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT). “One of the first shows I ever saw, Our Town, was at Arizona Theatre Company. I remember it like it was yesterday. It changed me forever, and decades later I’m making theatre around the world because of it,” Daniels said. “It’s an honor to give back to a place that has given me so much, and for every kid who walks into this building to know that they can someday be the Artistic Director.” Daniels’ family tree includes the Udall family, who have long been part of Arizona’s history “and I’m excited to add to that,” he said. “My Great Grandfather, Jesse Udall, was Chief Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court, my Great Uncle, John, and his son, Nick, were Phoenix mayors. I want to continue my family’s dedication to making Arizona a leader in our country. And, I’m excited to get back to owning a house with a pool!” Daniels also is related to Mo Udall, a popular Arizona Congressman who ran for president and was known for his wry humor.
