  • Annual Report Z Message from Leadership
coast guard foundation 2016 annual report z message from leadership he Coast Guard Foundation’s supporters, staff, and board members’ dedication enhance the lives of Coast Guard members and their families every year. The Coast TGuard is a family, and with your support, the Coast Guard Foundation stands behind this brave service every day. In November it was announced that I was to be given the honor of leading this great organization following the retirement of Anne B. Brengle after her nine years of devoted leadership. I joined the Foundation in 2013 as the primary fundraiser and relationship manager for our programs and investors in the northeast of the United States, and throughout this time I have been inspired by the devotion and commitment of the many Coast Guard families that I’ve met. In October, Anne received the Coast Guard Distinguished Public Service Award for her outstanding contributions to the service. As the highest commendation bestowed to a civilian by the Coast Guard, this is truly a fitting award for her years of service to the Coast Guard community. I am so grateful for this opportunity and wish to thank you, our dedicated partners, for your support of the men and women of the United States Coast Guard and their families. Susan P. Ludwig President z coast guard foundation 2016 highlights • Awarded 128 scholarships, a record number, • Established our first needs-based scholarship fund, combining with multi-year scholarship recipients and named in memory of Admiral Robert E. Kramek, who three Fallen Heroes Scholars to total 163 Coast Guard passed away in October, in honor of his service as the children who received over $575,000 in funding.
