Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan in his presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan on August 11, 1947 said, “We are starting in the days when there is no discrimination, no distinction between one community and another, no discrimination between one caste or creed and another. In this study, it is being focused that how television is helpful in promoting English language and to spread of education in every corner of the country where formal teaching of second language is not possible due to certain reasons. The popularity of television in the country has been established at a phenomenal rate in last few years. English language is being developed as the second most important language in the country. It is to see that television can be a useful device for learning languages especially English language. Both quantitative and qualitative methods have been used. Semi-structured interviews and surveys have been conducted. This research study reveals that television is performing a positive role in the promotion of English language specifically in the rural and remote areas of Pakistan.
