PUBLIC NOTICE.

A British subject in possession of a valid passport which bears on the cover the inscription 'British Passport' and in which holder's national status is described as "British subject" may travel to France and Algeria without a French visa. 2. This privilege does not extend to all British subjects but only to those who hold the type of passport mentioned above. 3. Intending travellers, who are British subjects, should appreciate this distinc• tion and before travelling to France or Algeria they should seek advice at one of the offices of the Department of Migration or at a French Consulate, to ascertain if they may enter France or Algeria without a French visa.

NOTICE.

CORRESPONDENCE WITH GERMANY.

This issue of the Gazette contains a licence issued by the Custodian of Enemy Property under the first proviso to section 3(2^ of the Trading with the Enemy Ordinance for the resumption of business correspondence with Germany. The following matter is, however, precluded from entering into Germany under the postal regulations imposed by the Allied Control Commission : (i) Powers of Attorney: (ii) Information concerning German owned property outside Germany; (iii) Instructions to persons in Germany involving the completion of transfers of property within Germany. Special arrangements for the transmission of Powers of Attorney to Germany are under consideration and will be notified shortly.

CLAIMS TO PROPERTY IN GERMANY AND AUSTRIA.

To avoid fruitless correspondence which is bound to delay the work of the Control Office for Germany and Austria in London, claimants are advised in their own interest when submitting their claims to observe the procedure prescribed by Government and, in particular, to pay attention to the following :— GERMANY (EXCLUDING AUSTRIA). 23rd January, 1947 THE PALESTINE GAZETTE No. 1551.

1. Applications addressed to the Control Office for* Germany arid Austria should as closely as possible comply with the requirements set out in Palestine Gazette of 26th September, 1946, page 903, under the heading "Claims of Victims of Nazi : :; . ׳.:.׳׳׳ .".Oppression 2. The Control Office cannot undertake to engage in any correspondence; it acts merely as a channel of communication forwarding the claims and enquiries to the appropriate authorities in Germany. 3. No facilities other than the above exist for the registration of claims ,with the Control Office or with other U.K. authorities on behalf of persons resident in ..־.-.,egistrar..of׳Palestine. • NOTICE. Notice is hereby given that the following goods lying unclaimed in Haifa Port, with the exception of those articles which are subject to control by the Competent Authority, will be sold by public auction at 9 a.m. on Monday, the 3rd February, 1947, in accordance with the provision of section 14D of the Ports Ordinance. The controlled articles will be sold at the direction of the Competent Authority. Purchasers of controlled articles must declare such articles to the Competent Authority and may only resell them under permit from, and at prices determined by, the said Authority.
