    Rivalry in the football industry and its impact on the stock prices of listed football clubs Master Thesis Finance BY W.J.Tankink Supervisor: J.H. von Eije Groningen, January 11, 2018 University of Groningen Faculty of Economics and Business MSc Finance Words: 9381 Abstract Rivalry in the football industry is examined in this paper as it analyses rivalry effects on stock price performance of football clubs. It does not matter which sport is exercised and at what level, rivalry among clubs is one of the main sources of attractiveness of a league. The rivalry among football clubs leads to a positive “mood” in case the rival loses and leads to a negative “mood” in case the rival has a for them positive match result. It is hypothesised that these emotions due to the performance of the period rival affect the stock price performance of the focal football club. This study shows that there is evidence that the results of the period rival can have an impact on the investment decisions of club supporters. Introduction Football, or what they call it in the United States soccer, is a well-known sport exercised all around the world. It all started in 1887. From then on it was allowed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to recruit football players as an individual football club. This was the start of, what is familiar to us now as, professional football. In other words, money made its entrance here and the role of money has increased a lot since then (Dobson and Goddard, 1998).

On Sunday, more than 20 Egyptian soccer fans were killed in an altercation with security forces outside a stadium that was hosting a game between Cairo clubs Zamalek and ENPPI. The tragic incident comes three years after the deaths of 72 Al Ahly soccer fans during a match in the city of Port Said, one of the worst disasters in the history of the sport. As they did three years ago, Egyptian authorities have suspended the league in the wake of the violence. Many of the dead reportedly belong to a hard-core group of Zamalek supporters known as the Zamalek White Knights. Egyptian officials say police fired tear gas to disperse a crowd of ticketless fans attempting to force its way into the stadium. Public prosecutors have ordered the arrest of leading Zamalek White Knights members. On their Facebook page, the White Knights accuse security forces of carrying out "a planned massacre." One prominent White Knights leader wrote in an online post that authorities had let some 5,000 fans enter a narrow enclosure and then shut them in, proceeding to lob rounds of tear gas into the massed crowd. "People died from the gas and the pushing, but they had shut the exit," wrote the leader, who goes by the online alias Yassir Miracle.

    BAB II Bola Basket dan Hubungan Amerika Serikat-Korea Utara Terdapat banyak cabang olahraga di dunia ini dan salah satunya yaitu olahraga bola basket. Bola basket ialah salah satu dari sekian banyak olahraga yang dalam permainannya menggunakan alat yaitu bola. Permainan ini dapat dimainkan oleh dua tim yang masing-masing terdiri dari 5 orang pemain inti dan 7 orang pemain cadangan sehingga tiap regu paling banyak terdiri dari 12 pemain, serta permainan ini dapat dimainkan di dalam lapangan persegi. Setiap tim mencoba untuk mencetak poin dengan melemparkan bola ke ring lawan, sebuah lingkaran horizontal tinggi dan jala yang disebut keranjang atau ring. Selain itu, sarana dan prasarana olahraga bola basket seperti bola basket yang berwarna oranye, ring yang menggantung diatas tiang, hingga jersey panjang kedodoran menjadi ciri khas olahraga ini. Perjalanan olahraga bola basket dari dulu sampai sekarang dapat menjadi salah satu olahraga yang sangat digemari banyak orang di dunia sangatlah panjang. Sejarah bola basket mencatat seperti apa perkembangan bola basket yang dimulai dari sebuah perguruan tinggi di Kanada dan kemudian menjadi terkenal di Amerika Serikat, sampai akhirnya di seluruh dunia. Untuk lebih jelasnya, penulis akan menjelaskan siapa yang menciptakan olahraga bola basket dan bagaimana sejarah bola basket ini ditemukan sampai akhirnya menjadi olahraga yang dikenal di seluruh dunia. 37 2.1 Sejarah Basket 2.1.1 Basket Menjadi Olahraga Internasional Bola basket pada awalnya diciptakan oleh seorang guru olahraga secara tidak sengaja, yaitu Dr. James Naismith yang menciptakan permainan ini pada tahun 1891 di Springfield, Massachusetts.1 Dia diberi tugas untuk membuat sebuah permainan pada ruang tertutup yang akan digunakan untuk mengisi waktu liburan para murid pada saat musim salju atau dingin.
