From the many events at this premium music festival lasting several days, the first announcement made by the festival organisers introduces the performer for 15 July: the main stage in the História Garden in Veszprém will feature none other than Dido herself! VeszprémFest organisers are happy to announce that one of the global star performers of next year’s festival will be the British singer Dido. During her twenty-year career the singer has never performed a solo show in Hungary, so this concert in Veszprém will be the first where Hungarian fans can enjoy an entire concert with Dido’s emotional and gripping songs. Dido was born in 1971 as Florian Cloud de Bounevialle Armstrong, and now she is one of the most successful performers in the United Kingdom. She was given her stage name by her mother after the queen of Carthage, and began her music career with the help and support of her brother Rollo Armstrong, a founding member of the music group Faithless. During her career she has sold more than 40 million records, and her first album entitled No Angel in 2001 was the most popular debut record ever among British female singers. Eind vorig jaar kwam het laatste album van de Britse dance-formatie uit. Heeft de band bekend van hits als Insomnia, Salva Mea en We Come 1 met het album To all New Arrivals een goede weg ingeslagen? Tijd om de balans op te maken. De groep geformeerd rondom producer Rollo (Rollo Armstrong, ja echt waar: de broer van Dido), toetsenist/dj Sister Bliss (echte naam Ayalah Bentovim) en rapper Maxi Jazz (echte naam Maxwell Fraser). Ook Jamie Catto (bekend van zijn project 1 Giant Leap) en Dave Randall maken deel uit van Faithless. Hun muziek is vaak omschreven als een mix van Triphop, Progressive Trance, Hiphop, Pop en vaak nog verschillende andere stijlen. Welk stempel je er ook op wil plakken, ze hebben veel betekend voor de dance. Bijvoorbeeld de debuutsingle van ze uit 1995, Salva Mea. Een grote hit waarvan er wereldwijd meer dan een miljoen exemplaren van Liquid-Motion https://www.liquid-motion.nl/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.1143 Pagina 2/3 werden verkocht. Latere succesvolle singles waren Insomnia (1996), God is a DJ (1998) en We Come 1 (2001). Dat laatste nummer bereikte de tweede plaats in de Nederlandse Top 40, en God is a DJ bereikte zelfs de eerste plaats.
