3 Vision: Total Transit Network . Every transit mode serves a certain purpose and market. . Many modes working in concert create a successful transportation network. . We have to continue to build, with local resources.

4 Dial-A-Ride Service

. Origin to Destination – shared ride service . Types of service • ADA: Federally mandated public transportation service for people unable to independently use the bus of their trips. • Non-ADA: Not required-service, availability varies

5 Purpose of the Plan

. Ongoing effort by Valley Metro and its Member Communities to review and strengthen regional ADA Dial-A-Ride services . Last regional paratransit plan completed in 2008 . Review changes made since 2008 and examine Dial-A-Ride services again

. Representatives from Member Communities and Dial-A-Ride operations . Assist with data collection . Provide input on preliminary findings and recommendations . Liaison with communities — Keep community transportation staff and officials informed of plan developments

. Stakeholder Group comprised of riders and local disability organization representatives • Rider survey • Online input • Public meetings . Provide input on current services . Provide input on plan recommendations after TWG review and before presentation to communities and Valley Metro Board

. Coordination of Dial-A-Ride operations in the Northwest Valley . Fewer transfers; Direct transfers from Northwest Valley to Glendale DAR and Phoenix DAR

. Change to taxi-based operations in East Valley and Northwest Valley . Expanded taxi subsidy programs for seniors and riders with disabilities in Phoenix (Senior Cab) . Expanded taxi subsidy service (Ride Choice) in Chandler, Fountain Hills, Gilbert, Mesa and Tempe

. New regional Mobility Center for assisting with travel options and ADA paratransit eligibility

16 Accomplishments Since 2008 . Expanded travel training co-located at Mobility Center . One-on-one travel instruction in using fixed route transit services for interested riders

17 Accomplishments Since 2008 . Platinum Pass Program • Available to ADA certified residents of participating cities • No cost to passenger when riding bus and light rail • Residency validated annually • Photo ID; valid three years
