ORMD Monthly p. 2 Townhall with Mckayla Wilkes Thursday May 14 @7pm Mckayla Wilkes is our choice for Congress (D-5) against incumbent Steny Hoyer. Unlike Hoyer, Mckayla supports pro-people legislation including the Medicare for All and the Green New Deal and isn’t funded by corporations. Our Revolution Prince George’s and Our https://www.mobilize.us/ourrevolution/event/271206/ Revolution Anne Arundel will be holding a Townhall Thursday May 14 at 7pm with Mckayla. Join us on Facebook at Our Revolution Maryland’s page or at www.ourrevolutionmd.com. Click on Mckayla’s image to RSVP. What we’re up against in District 5/ Why we Support Mckayla There are many great reasons to support Mckayla Wilkes in District 5; her truly progressive policies for one. As a millennial black woman from a working- class background, she would bring much-needed diversity, and a unique perspective, to Maryland’s all-male, mostly white delegation. Wilkes' opponent is another important factor in our decision to endorse a relative unknown. Majority Leader Steny Hoyer's many regressive positions include support for community-destroying “free” trade deals and opposition to Medicare for All - unsurprising given the staunch financial support he receives from the for-profit healthcare industry. After 40 years in office, he makes token orchestrated appearances in public, which deny his constituents the ability to engage, question, and advocate. Congressman Hoyer is the epitome of Democratic Party machine-style politics in Maryland. He recently mailed this "Democratic Primary Sample Ballot" to District 5 voters. Falsely implying that he is the only Democrat running, Hoyer is trying to avoid any discussion of his record or direct comparison with his superior opponent. Sadly, these dishonest sample ballots are distributed in Prince George’s County every election year by and in support of establishment Democrats with the complicity of the Maryland Democratic Party. Enough is enough. Vote for Mckayla! ORMD Monthly p. 3 Our Statement on Tara Reade’s sexual Our Revolutionassault Maryland has allegation released a statement against that addresses Joe Biden the recent allegations by Tara Reade that Joe Biden sexually assaulted her when she was an intern in his office in 1993: “We demand a thorough independent investigation into Reade’s allegations against former VP Joe Biden. Reade’s personnel file may contain the complaint filed against then Senator Joe Biden and must contain some record of what amounts to a subsequent dismissal. These must be found, whether among Biden’s papers at the University of Delaware or in the Senate offices, and delivered to Reade to decide whether to release them publicly.” Read the entire statement here.
