The First of Three Gene Upshaw, Javelina offensive lineman in 1963-66, was the first of three Javelinas to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He was inducted in 1987 as the first Hall of Famer who played exclusively at guard to be inducted. Upshaw, from Robstown, was a first-round draft choice of the Oakland Raiders and became one of the most honored players ever for the Raiders. He played in 10 AFL/AFC title games and three Super Bowls. He was in seven Pro Bowls, All-league seven times and second team four other times. He passed away in 2008 at the age of 63.
