The result is Rcluctantl W/c, a well produced effort on Ray's Deamon Records, a fledgling company designed to help local bands The Ellen James Society is the only group signed so far The band, which includes guitarist/singer Cooper Scay, singer/guitarist Chris McGuire, bassist Brian LiljIe and drum- mer Scott Bland. has a garage-band sound mixed with poetic lyrics that don't preach about any cause in particular thinkt1 we're probably a little more internal with our messages We're not pontiflcators,7 Seay says, admitting the band has played some charity benefits. For those who art unaware, the Grateful Dead are best known for their live performances rather than their studio recordings. Since the Dead allow their fans to tape their concerts. there are hundreds of thousands of bootlegs circulating among Dead fans.
