His worried little face seemed to say, "please don't leave me here" as ARF's intake team walked by cage after cage filled with homeless dogs. It was hard to tell the age of this poodle-mix at first glance, but through the mats and dirty fur his personality shined bright. This underage pup with no other litter mates was one of the lucky ones ARF saved from euthanasia on our weekly rescue . With so many of the dogs and cats ARF rescues, their life story is unknown. Ever the entrepre- neur, Mardy placed an ad seeking 'angel investors' to help him fulfill his aspiring career goals. After holding many interviews, Mardy found his angel. Chris, an entrepreneur himself, proved to Mardy that he was the best 'forever business partner'. Aside from being Chris's new four-legged companion, Mardy has been hired as Chief Kanine Mischief Maker at Chris's company. "The compensation negotiations were grueling," says Chris, Chief Karetaker for Mardy. Seems Mardy and Chris are the perfect ROI (Return on Investment) for each other!

Page 8 www.arf.net Winter 2011 NEW BEGINNINGS ho knew that Ripple (adopted from ARF in 2007), the rambunctious, Leader-of- the-BandW cat would become my very own therapy cat? After I sustained a severe concussion that left me sleepy and listless for days, he never left my side: he would curl up pressed against my body and stay there all day long. He only got up when I got up. His rumbling purr rippled through me like a soothing massage. And this is a cat that lives for playtime or wrestling matches with Matisse (adopted from ARF in 2006)! Yet he turned his attention fully to me and my healing process. In my eyes Ripple’s FIV positive status should truly be turned around to the grade of VIF+, a Very Important Feline plus. Thanks for giving even FIV positive cats like him a chance. Best regards, Roswitha

Thank you to all ARF supporters for saving 1,843 furry faces in 2011 ~ We can’t save them without you!

Rescued 3-29-11 Rescued 6-13-11 Rescued 10-11-11

Rescued 8-29-11 Rescued 11-1-11 Rescued 7-11-11 CAMP ARF SAVES LIVES Beauty and Lumiere, two fluffy orange tabbies, came to ARF as shy kittens. ARF’s young campers helped name and care for them and most important- ly, socialize them. While these kittens were in camp, they learned to trust young children and became familiar with their energy, sounds and movements. Once shy and withdrawn, after participating in the camp program, these kitty campers were adopted – together – to a family seeking to adopt kittens good with young kids. Thanks to our innovative programs, ARF can save more precious lives. For more infor- mation or to donate visit www.arf.net.
