The Scoop People rescuing animals...animals rescuing people® 925.256.1ARF www.arf.net Winter 2011 THE LONG JOURNEY HOME A small, terrified ball of white fluff with melt-your-heart brown eyes was just begging to be rescued at an over- crowded public shelter in California's central valley. His worried little face seemed to say, "please don't leave me here" as ARF's intake team walked by cage after cage filled with homeless dogs. It was hard to tell the age of this poodle-mix at first glance, but through the mats and dirty fur his personality shined bright. This underage pup with no other litter mates was one of the lucky ones ARF saved from euthanasia on our weekly rescue run. With so many of the dogs and cats ARF rescues, their life story is unknown. Were they a beloved family pet left at public shelter because their owners were unable to care for them?
