CREATING AND ENHANCING COMMUNITIES “At Thakeham we see ourselves as placemakers, we have the opportunity and duty to create amazing places. We are driven by delivering a legacy many can enjoy and that we can be proud of.” Rob Boughton, Group Managing Director A focus on placemaking

COMMITTED TO PEOPLE, COMMUNITIES AND CREATING AMAZING PLACES TO LIVE

We believe there is excitement in not just delivering homes but also affecting people’s lives in a positive way.

Our developments are always an asset to its surroundings and the local community. Beyond that we enhance the quality of life for everyone in the community, not just the people who buy our homes.

From green spaces for people to relax and enjoy, to new healthcare and education facilities; we create and enhance communities to support healthier and happier lives.

Thakeham is proud to have been selected as one of the participants in the NHS Healthy New Towns initiative as we are committed to planning ahead and collectively understanding local needs and assets, as well as engaging with local communities. The power of partnership

RELATIONSHIPS BASED ON SHARED VALUES

Building strong relationships with our customers, partners, suppliers and contractors benefits everyone.

We engage with local communities to ensure we deliver the infrastructure that people need. Highways, healthcare, utilities and other stakeholders are involved from the outset to enable us to create amazing places to live.

Our commercial partnerships work the same way. Trusted relationships with like-minded housing associations and local authorities have yielded long-term success for all parties. A strategic approach

PAVING THE WAY FOR COLLABORATIVE AND MUTUAL SUCCESS

Thakeham looks strategically at the way each development touches the community; always ensuring that the wider community is in a better place than before building began.

As a placemaker first and foremost, our commitment to improving communities means that we are design and infrastructure led.

We draw on an enviable range of in-house design, planning and engineering skills to deliver high quality, collaborative placemaking projects of all sizes and budgets. Pease Pottage

A PASSION FOR QUALITY REMAINS OUR GREATEST STRENGTH

From modest beginnings in 2003, we have grown to become one of the South East’s most successful placemakers.

In 2018, we were recognised in The Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 list, ranking Britain’s fastest growing companies over the last three years.

Building on that success, we have been listed in The Sunday Times Top 100 Best Small Companies to Work For 2020. In addition to this we were presented with the Special Award for Discovering Potential, recognising our workplace schemes and initiatives which help young people and armed forces personnel into work.

We have progressed from being a builder of small domestic developments, to undertaking a comprehensive range of operations across the spectrum of residential housing and placemaking.

As we continue to grow, we remain, at heart, a family business. With strong values and an open, inclusive culture, our ethos of quality and excellence is inherent in everything we do. Land, planning and design

ONE OF THE FASTEST GROWING LAND PORTFOLIOS IN THE SOUTH OF

As one of the leading land promoters in the south, we are tireless in our search for desirable land opportunities.

With expert knowledge and excellent relationships with land owners and local authorities, we are able to secure exceptional potential development land.

Our in-house design and planning teams are key assets in this process and are instrumental in being able to obtain planning consent. We also work with the best external consultants in the field.

This has resulted in us providing opportunities for quality new homes, community facilities, schooling, healthcare and the enhancement of physical and social infrastructures. Your partner for delivery

A LEADING CONTRACTOR FOR HOUSING ASSOCIATIONS, COUNCILS AND INSTITUTIONS

Our partnerships team handles a range of contracts that include social, affordable and retirement housing.

We create dynamic, mutually beneficial partnerships by identifying consented land and sharing our expertise and in-house skills to deliver high quality developments.

Our dedicated team works closely with clients to plan, progress, implement and advise throughout the life-cycle of each project. “One of our great advantages is the variety and depth of the in-house skills we possess. It enables us to deliver quality across a very wide range of projects.” Julian Rooney, Group Operations Director Creating a legacy

OUR AIM IS TO ENHANCE COMMUNITIES

As a socially responsible developer, we make positive contributions to the lives of people in our communities.

We engage with local communities to deliver learning support programmes with local schools, focusing on health and safety, construction and ecology, as well as providing funding for community clear-ups and refurbishment to community buildings.

Local service people, grassroots sports men and women and young apprentices seeking to make a living in the construction industry have all benefited from the Thakeham community focus.

All this goes hand-in-hand with our investment in skills and personal growth of our staff and graduates. Alternative energy

Residents will be able to start charging remotely from anywhere using a smartphone app.

As an infrastructure-led developer, we place sustainability at the heart of the communities we create and improve. The new charging points will enable Thakeham homeowners to enjoy the latest environmentally-friendly vehicles as conveniently as possible, both now and in the future. Sustainability

INSPIRING SUSTAINABLE PLACEMAKING

In January 2020, more than 250 property industry professionals packed into the Hilton Gatwick Airport for Thakeham’s annual “What’s Next? Housing” summit.

We were delighted to bring our partners, subcontractors and contacts together once again, to discuss the theme of this year’s conference: Inspiring Sustainable Placemaking.

Five guest speakers joined our CEO, Rob Boughton, on stage, each giving an engaging and thought-provoking presentation about the current situation of the housing industry and where it is heading.

Thakeham is committed to igniting those important conversations that will bring fresh thinking and clarity to future housing challenges. We will be hosting the next event in January 2021. “Immediately we felt that we’d found something special. We were hugely impressed by the quality, the workmanship and the materials used by Thakeham.” Mr and Mrs Chapman

“Our Thakeham home has transformed our lives. We’ve been here for a year but it still makes my daughter and I feel amazing when we see the quality. Everything is perfect. My daughter loves looking out of the balcony and I love to see her happy. We’re both really thankful.” Lee Roberts, Housing Association Resident

“I have been working on projects with Thakeham for three years now and their ethos has always been very clear. Thakeham recognises that everyone in the process has a part to play in successful delivery of their product, input is weighted equally and it has always been evident that long-lasting relationships are important to the business. Working with Thakeham is a breath of fresh air, even with their exponential growth, their values and how they treat people has remained the same; not only the values in the way they work, but also their standards of exceptional quality. It’s this shared passion for quality that binds Clarion and Thakeham and means that our relationship really does feel more like a partnership rather than just a contract.” David Shepherd, Head of New Business & Partnerships Clarion Housing Group Get in touch
