Why did we spend so much time and effort to present Liu Kuo-sung? It can be traced back to when NanHai underwent the soul-searching process to reconfirm its mission. At that time, the first name that came to my mind was Liu Kuo-sung. As one of the earliest and most important advocates and practitioners of modernist Chinese painting, Liu has perfectly transcended Eastern and Western, tradition and modernity, established a new tradition of Chinese ink painting and successfully brought it to the center of the international art scene.
