Unreported Information Showing Nikolas Cruz's Troubling Behavior
Unreported Information Showing Nikolas Cruz’s Troubling Behavior 1 Many people, through a variety of forums, had knowledge of Cruz’s concerning behavior that they did not report. Others had knowledge of Cruz’s concerning behavior that they reported but that information was not acted on by the person to whom they made the report. Some of the knowledge people gained about Cruz was gleaned from social media posts and other knowledge was based on personal observations or information they received. 2 We have identified at least 30 people who had knowledge of troubling behavior Cruz exhibited prior to the MSDHS shooting that was not reported or it was reported but not acted upon. The following reflects the categories of Cruz’s unreported behavior known to people before the shooting: Animal Cruelty/Killing: 7 Knife/bullet/firearm seen in Cruz’s possession: 19 Statements of hatred toward a group or person: 8 Statements of desire/or to hurt or kill people: 11 Specific statement to shoot school: 3 3 The following slides contain some examples of the troubling behavior Cruz exhibited before the MSDHS shooting. The timeframes for some of the material is known, some unknown and other occurrences are within date ranges. Some of this information was in and of itself actionable, some was not, but in the aggregate it is obvious that Cruz’s behavior was escalating over time. What is even more obvious is that people need to report more of what they see and hear. 4 The following slides contain some examples of Cruz’s social media posts containing concerning behavior. -

Minor League Baseball Tampa Tarpons Step up to the Plate with Mentorship for Unrepresented Children in Court System
Minor League Baseball Tampa Tarpons Step Up to the Plate with Mentorship for Unrepresented Children in Court System TAMPA, Fla., (August 28, 2018) What started as a simple request from a judge to find a sports mentor for a child in the Hillsborough County dependency court has evolved into a mentorship program that pairs children with Major League Baseball prospects playing for the Tampa Tarpons. The Tampa Tarpons Professional Baseball Club is a member of the Florida State League (FSL) and the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the New York Yankees Major League Baseball team. The Tarpons play their home games at George M. Steinbrenner Field from April to September. Donna Ackerson is a Child Advocate Manager for the Hillsborough County Guardian ad Litem Foundation (GAL). After a hearing for two brothers in the 13th Judicial Court System required her to find a sports mentor, Ackerson and her intern Katerina Fleming, reached out to all the sports teams in the area. She heard back from one organization, the Tampa Tarpons. “This started as a grassroots effort because I wanted to help two children under my advocacy. I never expected the feedback to be so positive,” says Ackerson. Currently in its second year, the program has matched 12 children with Tampa Tarpons’ players who provide one-on-one interactions with the youths. The kids get to attend and sit near players during home games; they get to spend time with players during or after practices; and this year the organization took the initiative to tutor a child who was having difficulties learning English. -

Draft Health Consultation
HEALTH CONSULTATION CINCINNATI COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL LEAD SITE CINCINNATI, OHIO Prepared by: Health Assessment Section of the Ohio Department of Health Under a Cooperative Agreement with the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry STATEMENT OF ISSUES The Health Assessment Section (HAS) of the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) was asked by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) to review analytical results of soil samples collected from the Cincinnati Country Day School located at 6905 Given Road in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio to determine if the levels of lead detected on the school property posed a public health threat to students, faculty, and visitors of the school. Lead contamination has impacted soils at the school as the result of shooting range activities that took place at the Camargo Club, a county club that is adjacent to the school property. Areas occupied by shooting ranges have a known history of containing elevated levels of lead in the soil due to the lead shot used in shotgun shells (Lexington Manor PHC, 2003 and Kings Mills PHC, 2003). In addition to reviewing the analytical results, HAS staff were asked to provide recommendations for levels of lead that would be considered safe to be left in the soil. This health consultation documents activities taken place to date and makes recommendations to the school district and U.S. EPA to reduce and mitigate exposure to lead contaminated soils. BACKGROUND The possibility of lead contamination in the soils at the Cincinnati Country Day School (CCDS) was discovered in 2003 when the Camargo Club presented the school with a report that indicated that lead shot may be present on the school’s softball and junior high baseball diamonds. -
