    WALTER LEVI ARCHIE (USA, SFC-Ret.) - Died Friday, April 24, 2020 at Alston Brook in Lexington, North Carolina at the age of 85. He was a resident of China Grove, North Carolina. The cause of death is unknown. Walter was born on March 23, 1935 in Rowan County, North Carolina to the late Clyde Archie and Stella (née Clodfelter) Archie. His first wife and the mother of his children, Betty Lou (née Peacock) Archie and his brother, Melvin Archie, also preceded him in death. After finishing school, Archie proudly served his country in the United States Army for 20 years. He retired in 1972 as a Sergeant First Class, spending two tours in Vietnam and several tours in Korea. After his service, he spent his work career as a bookkeeper for H.H. Sloop Hauling and Grading. Walter had a great love for his family. He was a Life Member of Vietnam Veterans of America – Kannapolis Chapter #909. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 18 years, Carol (née Beatty) Archie, along with son, Larry Archie (Teresa) and daughters, Lisa Jolly (Robert) and Sherry Lipke (Richard). He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Kenneth Archie, Walter David Archie, Derrick Lear, Lacie Lipke and Faith Lipke. Also surviving him are three great-grandchildren and sisters in-law, Pat Archie and Patty Wright. A memorial service for Walter will be held at a later date.
