After serving as an assistant and associate head coach at Stanford for 13 years, Forood has made the most of her time with the Cardinal women’s tennis team, guiding them to a 105-3 record. The Cardinal has won 105 of its last 108 matches over the past four seasons. This season, the Cardinal have tallied a perfect 23-0 record, while notching its 17th-straight Pac-10 title. Stanford will make its 23rd consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and boasts the Pac-10 Doubles Team of the Year for the second-straight season in Lauren Barnikow and Erin Burdette. Forood was named the league's coach of the year for her efforts with the Cardinal this season. Last season, Forood led the Cardinal to a 25-2 record overall, a second-place finish at the NCAA Tournament and a Pac-10 title.

Defending champion Stanford, 30-1, had its 46-match winning streak snapped and was denied its 11th NCAA crown. After splitting the singles, 3-3, Georgia took the lead when the duo of Esther Knox and Aarthi Venkatesan captured a quick 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Stanford’s Lauren Kalvaria and Gabriela Lastra returned the favor and evened the match by scoring a comfortable 8-2 decision at No. 3. In the deciding doubles finale, Georgia’s second-ranked duo of Marissa Catlin and Lori Grey bolt- ed to a 6-1 advantage, only to find themselves suddenly down, 7-6, to Stanford’s fourth-ranked Teryn Ashley and Marissa Irvin. Catlin-Grey battled for an 8-8 tie, fell behind 2-0 in the tiebreak- er, then rallied for a 7-3 triumph to garner the title. Individual doubles play produced the first three-time NCAA champion as California’s Amy Jensen teamed with Claire Curran to defeat Catlin-Grey in the final. Jensen also won for the Bears in 1998 and 1999 with former teammate Amanda Augustus.
