Keep smilin’ gang! 17 ACADEMICS BOARD OF EDUCATION The Board of Education is comprised of nine individuals, elect ed by the citizens of Carteret, working together to set policies for operation of the schools. The members of the Board are entrusted with the responsibility of setting policies to run the schools and constructing a budget to ascertain that the young people of Carteret will receive an education. The responsibility of all citizens is to educate the children of the community. First serving as an English teacher in '63. he became a guidance counselor and eventually became the Director of Guidance. More recently. Mr. Gilrain became Vice-Principal in 1980; and from 1981 to present, he has been the Principal of C.H.S.
