There is easy access to the A46 making both Lincoln and Newark, and their surrounding hamlets, easily accessible. Witham St Hughs is a developing community with shop units and a Community Centre with playing fields. Witham St Hughs is located in the District of North Kesteven. With the main District Council offices in Sleaford, there are various Community Access Points across the District from which Council services can be accessed. Witham St Hughs Academy currently has classrooms, a hall, information and communications technology (ICT) facilities and resource areas, plus all other facilities for a primary school of its size. Most of the classrooms face, and have access directly onto, the playground. They face in a south-easterly direction and open onto a covered area which provides shade during the summer months. The academy is designed to be child friendly with a variety of colours, textures and shapes used in the design. The windows have been positioned to make the most of the surrounding views and are set at appropriate heights for the children. The central space within the academy is flooded with light, via both northerly and southerly clerestory windows. The academy is of a modern appearance and was specifically planned to be environmentally friendly. It is intended to be a lesson in sustainability and, as such, has low energy lighting, solar panels to heat domestic hot water and a rainwater recycling system. Additionally, the academy has an under-floor heating system. 5 Witham St Hughs Academy is a member of L.E.A.D. Academy Trust. The child is in the care of the local authority (LAC) or has previously been in care (PLAC) 2. There is a sibling on roll at the academy at the time of application 3. A child whose parent is a member of staff and has been employed at the academy for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the academy is made 4. Access to the school. The following will be taken into consideration in the order below: i. Whether this is the school closest to the home address ii. The distance from home to school in a straight line.
