SMS-Operational-Dashboard SITE MANAGEMENT SMS Operational Dashboard SUPPORT East Harerge and Dire Dawa (July 2019) Publication: 02 July 2019 ETHIOPIA Overview In December 2018, IOM started SMS operations in Dire Dawa and East Harerge, in response to inter-com- Operational presence of cluster partners (East Harerge and Dire Dawa) munal violence of 2017. The SMS team currently operate in 12 collective sites in East Harerge, and 1 Siti Fafan sites in Dire Dawa. One site in Dire Dawa has closed due to the return of IDPs to their original homes and Kazira Jeldessa is under rehabilitation by IOM. Currently, SMS has deployed 2,772 11 staff to support the IDP crisis in Dire Dawa and East Harerge Zone. While forecasts for 2019 indicate a probability of normal to above normal rain in most parts of Ethiopia, in east, south and southeastern regions, the upcoming rainy season (March to June) is forecast- KEY FIGURES ed to be average or below average.
