This collaborative approach emphasizes the growing awareness among all stakeholders that the challenges of HIV in Kericho County can only be successfully addressed by working together. It is my strong conviction that the participation by individuals from all sectors, representing a wide range of organizations, will ensure dynamic County action that yields desirable results in HIV interventions in Kericho County. This Strategic Plan will guide our HIV interventions over the next five years. It is an expression of our commitment and determination to face HIV and AIDS not only as a medical and health challenge, but also as cultural, social and economic challenge that affect all sectors of our society and every family. It also addresses the complexities of our sexuality, our relationships, our culture, beliefs and attitudes that influence the transmission of infections, our reactions to infection and illness, whether and how we support, stigmatize and discriminate against each other. This Strategic Plan is therefore, about us, and is for us, as a community and a County. Let us now, and in the years ahead, come together to ensure that the plan is translated into concrete, focused and sustained action and results. In conclusion, I would like to thank the County Technical Drafting Team for spearheading this process. I also reiterate the commitment and support of the County Government of Kericho in ensuring successful implementation of this Strategic Plan. H. E. PROF. PAUL CHEPKWONY GOVERNOR KERICHO COUNTY 9 Acknowledgement ericho County Government would like to take this occasion to express its deep appreciation and sincere thanks to all who participated in the development of the KCASP 2014/15-2018/19. The County Government of Kericho, Health Department has worked closely with partners on HIV Kand AIDS activities. This has seen the County make great strides in HIV prevention, Care and Treatment of those that are infected and affected in order to ensure that not just days but also quality life is added to their days. The County Government of Kericho, Health Department has worked closely with partners on HIV and AIDS activities. While the County has had breakthroughs in management of HIV and AIDS, there is a great need to ensure that the gains that have been made over the years are not reversed. There is therefore need for concerted efforts to have zero new infection rates. This framework encompasses the various components of management and the actual actionable county specific items that need to be implemented so as to prevent new infections and mitigate the effects of the disease. This framework has been put together through the efforts of various actors; National AIDS Control Council (NACC) has played a key role in ensuring proper coordination and has also provided technical input. Other partners, notably the PEPFAR/WRP made an immense contribution in terms of technical and financial input. The County Health Department staff worked extra hard to ensure that this framework was completed on time. The KCASP development process was mainly coordinated through the County Technical Drafting Team that met and provided their input and advice. The team was composed

  • Youth, Peace and Security in Kenya by Olawale Ismail
Youth, peace and Security in Kenya by Olawale Ismail Youth, Peace and Security in Kenya Revised Draft 12/12/2017 1 Youth, peace and Security in Kenya by Olawale Ismail 1. Introduction Kenya underscores the spirit and letter of UNSC Resolution 2250 in many ways. Over the last decade, Kenya’s political-security volatility has been well documented by extant research and media reports. Incidence of political and election-related violence, radicalization and violent extremism, inter-ethnic and inter-communal clashes, pastoralist violence, and state-led violence dot Kenya’s peace and security landscape in the last 10 years. While most of these peace and security issues predate the last decade, their scale, spread, intensity and impacts are unprecedented. As in similar contexts, much of research and policy attention have focused mostly on the role of young women and men largely as victims and perpetrators of violence, respectively. However, emerging pointers, as encapsulated in UNSCR 2250, signpost the crucial role and contribution of young people to preventing violence, responding to violence and rebuilding peace, and informed contributions to the security and stability of communities, countries and world at large. Kenya is no different; female and male youth on their own and/or in collaboration with other stakeholders, actively contributes to conflict prevention, reconciliation and peacebuilding in Kenya. Accordingly, this report presents an overview of the contemporary peace and security challenges in Kenya, and the responses of young people in the form of their roles and contributions to peacebuilding efforts. This case-study was commissioned by UNFPA and PBSO for the Progress Study on YPS requested by SCR 2250, with funding support from SIDA.

The observed distribution frequency is best ap ptoximated by a Poisson distribution and was previously Certain methodological problems are likely to be en ranked in a logarithmic scale. Studies by Hinz (personal countered if observed disease occurrences based on hos communication, 1974) showed that a stanine rank trans pital or other medical statistics are interpreted in a spatial formation, classifying the hospitals according to an geographical analysis. Epidemiological surveys of good ascending order of the Hospital Recording Rate for each quality - taking environmental factors into proper con disease in 9 ranks differentiated (the hospitals) somewhat sideration-are scarce and usually restricted to a few . better and without an unjustified impression of accuracy: diseases of major interest or importance and consequently generally very specific as opposed to aiming at spatial coverage. Stanine Ranking of Hospital Recording Rates The most prominent problem is the lack of a common 1st = 4% spatial denominator. For example, in order to examine the 2nd= 7% relationship between rainfall or temperature and disease, 3rd =12% the two physical variables are demarcated by isohyets and 4th =17% of all recording hospitals according to an ascending 5th =20% order of disease recording rate per population in isotherms, whereas disease prevalence available in terms 6th =17% catchment area of hospital records and medical statistics for notifiable 7th =12% diseases may be based on administrative units. 8th = 7% Hospital statistics or other health statistics suffer 9th = 4% greatly from a number of systematic and mathematical biases, which can scarcely be overcome.
