CONDITIONS OF SALE (Please Read Carefully)

BIDDER RESTRICTIONS AND LIMITATIONS 1. We reserve the right to reject bids that we consider to be frivolous bids.

2. Bids from minors will not be accepted.

3. No bids will be accepted below the opening bid price listed. In the event that a lower bid is submitted, it will be considered null and void.

4. All bids must be received in this office no later than 3 p.m. PT (Pacific Time) on the closing date. You may submit your bid in advance by either mail, email or telephone at (909) 947-5356 on the closing date.

5. Bids are accepted by lot number only. The highest bid shall not exceed 10% above the second highest bid.

6. In the case of tie bids, the earliest bid received will be given preference and shall prevail.

7. All bids are final. All items offered are guaranteed genuine and as described. All claims for adjustments must be made within 5 days of receipt but in no case later than 45 days after the auction.

MEANS OF PAYMENT 1. A 15% buyer’s charge will be added to the successful bid price of each lot. Postage, handling, and insurance fees will be added to all invoices. (See Shipment Instructions for details)

2. Payment is due immediately upon receipt of invoice unless prior payment arrangements have been made with Gold Medal Collectibles in writing. Lots will not be delivered without full payment of invoice. In the event that full payment is not received within 30 days, the sale will then be considered null and void.

3. Payments must be made from checks or money orders drawn on a US Bank account. International Money Orders will not be accepted.

4. You may make your payment via Mastercard, VISA, Discovery, American Express or PayPal. There will be an additional Convenience Charge (3.25% USA / 3.75% Int’l) added to your purchase order. All transactions are final and must be made in US funds.

5. The bidder will be charged a banking fee of $25 for each returned check.

SHIPMENT INSTRUCTIONS 1. All successful bidders must supply fully detailed shipping instructions before shipment will be made, otherwise the shipment will be mailed to the buyer’s address as listed on the bid sheet.

2. Insurance and/or any other means of delivery is available at the buyer’s expense. All lots will be shipped via regular US Postal Service or United Parcel Post unless specific shipment instructions have been requested by the buyer.

3. Lots will be sent overseas only at the risk of the buyer. All custom duties on lots shipped overseas will be the responsibility of the buyer.

4. There will be an additional charge ($2 per lot) to ship bulky and glass items (posters, books, torches, and large items.)

The sale of Lester B. Steven’s personal collection of Olympic memorabilia is now being offered in this auction. Lester Stevens was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on February 28, 1884. He died January of 1972. Mr. Stevens competed in the 100-yard dash and won the heat with a time of 11.2 seconds to advance to the semifinals. He placed fourth in his race and did not advance to the finals. A ticker-tape parade was held in New York City (August 29, 1908) in honor of the American Olympic Team, including Lester Stevens.

18. Participation Medal. Pewter, designed by Bertram MacKennal and minted in England. Obverse: Quadriga with charioteer and judge to left, preparing to present the triumphant athlete with a palm of victory. Reverse: Winged figure of Fame standing on globe between legend. The medal was presented to Lester B. Stevens, medal measures approx. 2” in diameter, 47 grams in weight, EF. See color photos for detail. $850

19. American Olympic Committee Certificate. This certificate was awarded to Lester B. Stevens (member of the American Olympic Team), signed by Commissioner John E. 20. New York City‟s Greeting Medal - Homecoming for the Victorious American Team from the Olympic Games London 1908. Obverse: Female holding olive branch over an athlete on a pedestal with “L.B. Stevens” engraved on a banner below the pedestal, Acropolis in the background, and raised engraving “Columbia‟s Greeting” on top right side of medal. The sale of Sydney H. Gooday‟s personal collection of Olympic memorabilia is now being offered in this auction. Sydney Gooday was born in 1887 in Croydon, England. Mr. Gooday competed in the 200m and 400m Breast Stroke events in the 1908 London Games for Great Britain and in the 1920 Antwerp Games for Canada. Mr. Gooday held Canadian records for breast stroke swimmers.

Letter from the Canadian Amateur Swimming Association in Quebec recommending Mr. Gooday to the Olympic Committee; 3.) Possible Photo of Mr. Gooday (Capt.
