A-Rod, is one of the world’s greatest baseball players. He plays for the New York Yankees, after starting his career with Seattle and Texas. He holds a long list of baseball records. He is the youngest player ever to hit 500 home runs. He will get $30 million if he breaks the all-time home run record of 762. Rodriguez was born in 1975 in New York City to Dominican parents. He loved baseball when he was growing up and was a star player at school. He was the USA Baseball Junior Player of the Year and the Gatorade national baseball student athlete of the year. In 1993, Alex was the first ever high school player to try out for Team USA. Rodriguez was signed by the Seattle Mariners. He made his major league debut aged 18, becoming the youngest position player in Seattle history. He quickly set many Seattle club records and in 1996 was the Major League Player of the Year. In 2000, he signed with the Texas Rangers in what was the most lucrative contract in sports history. Rodriguez joined the New York Yankees in 2004. In 2007, he became the first player in history to have at least 35 home runs, 100 runs, and 100 RBI in 10 consecutive seasons. -

Arlington Babe Ruth Baseball AAA American Rules (Ages 8-9) Revised Date: March 4, 2020 – FINAL FOR 2020 SEASON AAA American is ABR’s introduction to kid-pitch baseball; it is geared for kids playing their first spring season of kid pitch. AAA American is played on a 41’/60’ intermediate baseball diamond with a 41’ mound and 60’ bases. 1. Ages: 8-9 (cannot turn 10 before April 30). 2. Safety and Equipment: A. Compliance Required. All players, coaches and assistants must comply with all National and Local rules requiring the use of safety equipment. B. Ball. A Starr 5 safety ball is used at this level. C. Catchers. Catchers must wear full catching gear and a protective cup at all times when behind the plate, including during pitcher warmups. D. Warming Up Pitchers. Everyone, including adults and players who are not catchers, must wear an approved mask when warming up pitchers at any location, including bullpens and on the field. E. Protective Cups. Catchers must wear a protective cup during practices and games. Although other players are not required to wear a protective cup, they are encouraged to do so. F. Jewelry. Players must remove any bracelets, jewelry, watches, etc. The rules do allow medical bands and religious items if worn properly. Pitchers are not allowed to wear arm bands, sweat bands, and sunglasses, including on the brim of their cap, unless for a medical reason clearly stated prior to the game. 3. Games: A. Official Game. Games are six innings long. A game is official after 2.5 innings, regardless of the reason why the game is stopped. -
