When You Say “I Can't Forgive Myself”
When You Say “I Can’t Forgive Myself” Rich Nathan October 6-7, 2007 Finding Freedom From Your Past (Forgiveness) 1 John 1:9 One of the saddest stories that I’ve read in any magazine recently was the story in last week’s Sports Illustrated about Mike Coolbaugh. Mike was born in a baseball family. His dad was a high school talent from Binghamton, New York, who turned down an invitation to the Yankees try-out because he knew he just wasn’t good enough. He wanted to make sure his sons never felt that way and so he had his sons practicing baseball from the time they were six-years old. He set up a course for them to run on. And the rule in Mike Coolbaugh’s house was either you practiced your hitting, or you helped dad pull weeds in their enormous yard. So they would take 300-400 cuts a day. Dad had a pitching machine and a batting cage at home. Mike played high school baseball and then he was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1990 as a power-hitting third-baseman. He spent 10½ years in the minor league bouncing from one organization to another. He made three minor league all-star teams. He was voted Team MVP; broke a league record for RBIs in a season. But there was always someone ahead of him in the organization and he was never able to quite break into the major league. In 2001 he finally got his chance. The Milwaukee Brewers called him up from the minor after almost 1200 games in the minors. -

Minor League Presidents
MINOR LEAGUE PRESIDENTS compiled by Tony Baseballs www.minorleaguebaseballs.com This document deals only with professional minor leagues (both independent and those affiliated with Major League Baseball) since the foundation of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues (popularly known as Minor League Baseball, or MiLB) in 1902. Collegiate Summer leagues, semi-pro leagues, and all other non-professional leagues are excluded, but encouraged! The information herein was compiled from several sources including the Encyclopedia of Minor League Baseball (2nd Ed.), Baseball Reference.com, Wikipedia, official league websites (most of which can be found under the umbrella of milb.com), and a great source for defunct leagues, Indy League Graveyard. I have no copyright on anything here, it's all public information, but it's never all been in one place before, in this layout. Copyrights belong to their respective owners, including but not limited to MLB, MiLB, and the independent leagues. The first section will list active leagues. Some have historical predecessors that will be found in the next section. LEAGUE ASSOCIATIONS The modern minor league system traces its roots to the formation of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues (NAPBL) in 1902, an umbrella organization that established league classifications and a salary structure in an agreement with Major League Baseball. The group simplified the name to “Minor League Baseball” in 1999. MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL Patrick Powers, 1901 – 1909 Michael Sexton, 1910 – 1932 -
Minor League Baseball and Its Clubs Embodied the Mission of Milb
2019 MiLBTM COMMUNITY REPORT LETTER FROM PAT O’CONNER LETTER FROM PAT Dear Friends and Colleagues, Thank you for your efforts in making 2019 another successful philanthropic year for Minor League Baseball, our 160 teams and MiLB Charities. As we prepare for the 2020 season, we have many accomplishments from last season to celebrate. None of our efforts would be possible without the great work of our teams, continued dedication from staff at the national office and the support of our millions of fans nationwide. For a fifth straight year, all 160 clubs reported their charitable giving and contributions, allowing us to accurately assess our collective efforts. It gives me great pleasure to say that in 2019, MiLB Charities donated nearly $50 million in cash and gifts in kind from our teams, leagues and partners — once again setting a new record-high total. In addition, MiLB and its teams nearly doubled our volunteer efforts from 2018, giving more than 26,000 hours in service of our communities. This report highlights MiLB Charities’ many programs and initiatives, including the MiLB CommUNITY Initiative presented by Allegiant Air, the Stars & Stripes Caps Program with New Era Cap Company, the Derrick Hall Pro-State Foundation Father’s Day Initiative, Ed Randall’s Fans For the Cure, the Joe Torre Safe At Home Domestic Violence Awareness Initiative, and the “Cover Your Bases” Sun Safety Initiative with the American Cancer Society. These are just a few of the ways our teams and partners are working together to make positive and lasting impacts in our MiLB communities. -

Indians Staying Active with Talks at Meetings Club Prefers to Acquire Offense Without Dealing
Indians staying active with talks at Meetings Club prefers to acquire offense without dealing from solid rotation Bastian / MLB.com | @MLBastian | December 8th, 2015 NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Indians have had non-stop meetings over the past two days, gathering with rival clubs and holding internal sessions to pore over a plethora of roster possibilities. It is a safe bet that a majority of teams have at least asked about the availability of Cleveland's starting pitchers. The Tribe's preference, however, is to avoid subtracting from the rotation if it pulls the trigger on a trade to upgrade the offense. The Indians have prospects to offer, along with a variety of other players of value. One under-the-radar trading chip would be backup catcher Roberto Perez, who could be a starting catcher for many teams around baseball. Perez convinced Cleveland of that with his showing last season. "He reinforced our belief that he can be a very good starting catcher in the Major Leagues," president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti said on Tuesday at the Winter Meetings. "He handles the pitching staff really well, receives well, controls the running game extraordinarily well, manages the game, and he did a good job offensively, too, contributing in key spots." Antonetti and the Cleveland contingent met Tuesday with an assortment of teams, including Texas. The Rangers are on the hunt for starting pitching help, so inquiring about the likes ofCorey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco, Danny Salazar or Trevor Bauer makes sense. The Rangers also The Indians have a need for offense, and could use the outfield, corner infield spots or the designated hitter role to add upgrades. -
