Developed communications approach for fund-raising campaign. Nabil’s Restaurant, Lawrence, 1983-1984. Wrote and placed advertising for restaurant. Also helped to design a new menu. Dunford-Barrett Corporation, Salt Lake City, 1978-1979. Conducted focus-group interviews for several agency clients and also headed up several field surveys. American Diabetes Association--Utah Affiliate, Salt Lake City, 1978-1979. Helped to write and edit fund-raising literature. Odyssey House (half-way house for former abusers of alcohol and drugs), Salt Lake City, 1978. Helped to develop public relations program to enhance image of the organization by highlighting its success stories. Marsteller Inc., Chicago, Summer 1970. Prepared research reports and wrote advertisements for numerous industrial clients. (Page 3 of 20) Sun Newspapers, Minneapolis, Summer 1969. Sold space and wrote advertisements for more than 20 weekly newspapers in the Sun chain in Minneapolis area. A. C. Nielsen Company, Chicago, Summer 1968. Served as field surveyor in five-state area to identify TV households to receive audimeter for network TV ratings. Teaching Awards Recognized at mid-court during Kansas-Nebraska women’s basketball game Feb. 20, 2005, for excellence in teaching and for work done by my students on a campaign for the KU women’s basketball team. W.T. Kemper Fellowship for Teaching Excellence Winner, 1998 Nominee, 1997 Del Shankel Teaching Excellence Award (given annually by KU student- athletes). Winner, 1997 Finalist, 1996 Mortar Board Outstanding Educator Award, Fall 1990. Advancement Award for Teaching Excellence (given annually by the KU Advertising Club), Spring 1988. H.O.P.E. Teaching Citation Named by 70 respondents to university-wide 1987 Senior Survey as among the “finest KU teachers” from whom seniors had taken courses. (Seventy mentions was highest in the survey.)
