Standing proudly on the slopes of the River Avon, beautiful Bath was the first city in England to be designated an UNESCO World Heritage site. The gorgeous 15th century Bath Abbey, the stunning Georgian architecture, the romantic Pulteney Bridge, modeled on Florence's Ponte Vecchio, are all sights to linger on in the memory of your day. Explore the delights of Bath at your leisure. We will return to London after the tour. Overnight at the hotel. (B) (L) DAY 5 (Thursday 12th December) LONDON – LIVERPOOL Breakfast at the hotel. Today we leave to Liverpool. We will pick you up from the hotel and take you to the train station for your ride to Liverpool. Upon arrival, a private car will be waiting for you and drive you to the hotel. Liverpool, the port city is noted for its rich architectural heritage and home to many buildings regarded as amongst the greatest examples of their respective styles in the world. Several areas of the city centre were granted World Heritage Site status by the UNESCO in 2004. But Liverpool is most famous as the birthplce of the Beatles and recognized by Guinness World Records as the World Capital City of Pop. Here we visit the Beatle project, a museum for one of the world's most influential bands.... the Beatles, who's lives we're shaped by the city. We will start the tour at the new statue of the Beatles in front of the Mersey Ferry Terminal at Pier Head and take some souvenir photos in front of the famous Liver Buildings. Then, we will visit the Grade II-listed Port of Liverpool Building, built in 1907 with a lavish marble interior and magnificent domed roof. Take a short walk to visit the new "Double Fantasy" John Lennon & Yoko Ono exhibition in the Museum of Liverpool, where exhibits tell the story of the city through costume, decorative art and everyday artefacts, before heading back towards Albert Docks and the 18th-century Liverpool Town Hall where the Beatles had their homecoming reception in 1964. Journey down one of Liverpool's original streets en route to Mathew Street to see the Eleanor Rigby Statue and new statue of Cilla Black in the Cavern Quarter. End your tour at the Cavern Club, where the Beatles played 292 times between 1961 and 1963 and where there is usually live Beatles music on stage. Back to the hotel. Overnight stay here in Liverpool. (B) DAY 6 (Friday 13th December) LIVERPOOL - EDINBURGH Breakfast at the hotel. You will have the morning free for private activities and discover the city of Liverpool on your own. After lunch, you will get to the train station to take your train to Edinburgh. Upon arrival, a private car will be waiting for you and will take you to the selected hotel. In the afternoon, you will participate on an Old Town Historical walking tour. Join a local historian on our historical walking tour around Edinburgh’s famous Royal Mile. Learn about Edinburgh’s fascinating history, literature heroes, infamous criminals and battles that shaped the city into what is today. This tour will take you into parts of Edinburgh that you did not know existed, off the tourist trail. From hidden Victorian gardens to centuries old buildings with plenty a story attached. Hear about how the first skyscrapers in the world were built in Edinburgh, indeed we hosted the tallest buildings in the world long before any other country caught onto the trend. The impact of such change is likely to vary across UK regions. There is also a growing demand for improved regional economic analysis to help inform devolution and City Deal-type policymaking. Despite these concerns, there are no comprehensive national statistics on interregional trade in the UK. This paper fills this gap, proposing a framework for estimating interregional trade between the devolved nations of the UK: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. We explain where gaps exist in the current UK data landscape and suggests various ways in which these could be addressed. We then apply our framework using currently available data, presenting initial results for trade between the 4 nations of the UK in 2015. Recommendations for future work are also presented, including the need to evaluate current methods for collecting trade information within the UK.
