PANDIT PUNE HAVYAKA SANDESHA 2 SEPTEMBER 2014 (3rd Proof) PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Dear Friends, The GRAND FINALE of GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION which we are eagerly awaiting is coming close. We invite all our members with their family to the Grand Finale on 14th September 2014, at Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi which has a capacity of 900 audiences. Our volunteers are doing their best to see that the event will be a memorable one. As mentioned in the previous issue of our mouth piece SANDESHA the professional event manager is coordinating with us to see that the function starts & ends in time. As mentioned earlier the Finale consists of orchestra, dances and lots of innovative events. The specialty of the day is that even the audience is also included in professional drum beating. It is also the day when the winners of different competitions will be given prizes. We will honour our past presidents and some other dignitaries.We plan to issue passes to advertisers and donors. An individual who donates a minimum of Rs. 100/-or Rs. 200/- will also get a pass. We will distribute snacks at the end of the program. All the preparation is going on but ultimately the success of the event depends upon your participation. We are trying very hard to collect funds but we have not yet reached the target. We are happy to see enthusiasm among our members to contribute, especially our youngsters. We need to approach resourceful people for larger amount or sponsor for the program. We are sure that all of you will make special efforts till the last day of the program to collect the fund. Of course, there is no expiry date for the donation. Contributing for the noble cause is a virtue to be imbibed by us. There is no happiness greater than the satisfaction we get from giving. We are happy that our youngsters are realizing it. Master Shreyas Bhat age 12, son of Smt. Sandhya and Shri Sanjay Bhat (Shri Sanjay Bhat is leading the Golden Jubilee celebration team) donated Rs. 1000/- on the occasion of his birth day from his pocket money. Miss Shama Hegde, daughter of Smt.Tanuja (our active member) and Shri. K. C. Hegde donated Rs.1500/- from her first salary. Let us all congratulate them. By the time you receive our mouth Piece SANDESHA the Medical Camp at Dombivli and at Kalina will be over. We hope that maximum people must have taken the advantage. The contents of the two volumes have been assembled and abridged. Information has also been updated, mainly in the Appendices based on other sources. A multifaceted personality, simplicity personified- that is our Swamigal in a nutshell. His one trait, which none, who has had his fleeting darshan even once, will miss is his geniality and the infectious and bewitching smile on his lustrous face. The revered Paramacharya Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal had said that he himself was the “Iccha Sakthi” and his disciple was the “Kriya Sakthi”. This was with reference to how his devoted disciple carried out his every wish. Soon after his becoming Peethadhipati, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal wrote Page 2 of 128 a treatise on Brahma Sutra Bhashya, titled ‘Gurupriya’, as desired by his Guru. Known for clarity, cogency and brevity, Gurupriya is intended to serve as a refresher to the serious student engaged in manana, contemplation.     History of the Kanchi Sankaracharya Math and Acharyaparampara Sri Sankara Bhagavatpada : On reaching Kanchi, after the digvijaya tours, Sri Sankaracharya settled down at Kanchi, established a Math for his own residence in that city, gave sanyasa deeksha to a very young boy of Thambaravarni valley, gave him the name Sarvajnatman, nominated him as successor Acharya of the Kanchi Sankaracharya Math and put him under the care of Sri Suresvaracharya. A long line of unbroken erudite and pious Acharyas have adorned the Kamakoti Peetham. Some of the most famous in this line of Acharyas are Sri Krpa Sankara, Sri Muka Sankara, Sri Abhinava Sankara, Sri Paramasivendra Saraswati, Sri Bhodhendra Saraswati and the world renowned 68th Acharya, Pujyasri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Swamigal (Maha Periyaval), a benign soul who illustrated to us, through His universal tolerance, lofty nobility, profound erudition, towering spirituality and child like simplicity, like what the great Bhagavatpada Himself Adi Sankara took to sanyasa directly from Brahmacharya asrama.
