SCOTTS VALLEY LITTLE LEAGUE FIELD GROUND RULES (updated June 2018) Lower field: - All gates must be closed at all times. - Concrete slabs at top of Dugouts are considered part of the dugout. If a ball enters the dugout area, play will be stopped and umpires will award bases. - No equipment bags, buckets etc. are allowed outside of the dugout, the concrete slab is considered the dugout which may be used for large bags or buckets. - Center field gate must be closed at all times if a ball rolls UNDERNEATH the gate the hit will be awarded as a ground rule double. On a batted ball in flight while a defensive fielder is trying to make a catch and goes thru the centerfield gate making a catch the umpire will determine if the hit is a homerun or a catch. - A batted ball in flight that hits the score board is a homerun. - For the purpose of clarification related to the “Adult in the dugout.” One adult must be down the steps inside the bottom portion of the dugout at all times. - Players in the first base dugout must ask for, and be awarded time, before going to the bullpen area. - Visitor side bull-pen requires a coach to monitor player warming-up as it is not visible from the dug-out. Upper field - All gates must be closed at all times. - Left and right field gates must be closed at all times. If a batted FAIR ball rolls UNDERNEATH the gate the hit will be awarded as a ground rule double. - A ball hit in flight that hits the score board is a homerun. - For the purpose of clarification related to the “Adult in the dugout.” One adult must be down the steps inside the bottom portion of the dugout at all times. .
