West Shore Career-Technical Education District is dedicated to offering students the opportunity to earn college credit through West Shore Career-Technical College Link. Earning college credit requires acceptable performance and attendance in the CTE program. Individual colleges maintain their own criteria. College credit will not be granted if a specific criterion is not met. In general, most colleges require a 2.0/2.5 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) that is the Grade point average and a 3.0 in the Career-Technical program. Some colleges require a 90% attendance rate. Some colleges require completing Algebra 2 before graduation to qualify for college credits. A student interested in earning college credit through their CTE program should complete all necessary paperwork and meet deadlines. Below are the colleges that offer college credit opportunities for West Shore Career-Technical Students. Project Lead the Way 1. CT2 is a state wide college credit articulation agreement system. West Shore has been approved within this system. Project Lead the Way Ohio offers students many options at several different colleges. The Certificate of Completion is a communication tool between the high school Project Lead the Way program and colleges and universities. It is used to verify the student’s success in the PLTW courses for the purpose of articulation. In general, students at West Shore who earn a “B” average or higher in their PLTW courses and score 70 percent or higher on the PLTW college credit exam are eligible to apply for college credit or recognition, depending on the requirements of the affiliates. If the benchmark is reached and the student will receive their Certificate of Completion in their Career Passport. Students should present their Certificate of Completion to the college/university when applying for admission. National college partners accept West Shore Project Lead the Way students Certificates of Completion as well. West Shore is a member of the North Coast Tech Prep Partnership. Students interested in earning college credit from Cuyahoga Community College need to complete the Tri-C application and the Articulation Agreement form available through your CTE teacher or in the West Shore Career-Tech Office. Your Guide to Earning College Credit STEP 1: Complete a Tri-C application. Submit it to your Tech Prep teacher. STEP 2: Receive a Tri-C S number and password. DO NOT LOSE THEM STEP 3: Be sure that you have passed (or are passing) Algebra 2. STEP 4: Maintain at least a “B” average in your Tech Prep program. STEP 5: Maintain at least a “C” average overall in high school. STEP 6: Maintain a 95% attendance rate in your Tech Prep program. http://www.techprep4u.com/partnership/index.htm .
