OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (WANTAGE) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 20** NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above orders under Sections 1, 2, & 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of Order 1.) as a result of the development of land adjacent to Denchworth Road (south of Grove) is to extend the 30mph speed limit on Denchworth Road from its junction with Newlands Drive to its roundabout unction with Mably Way. The effect of Order 2.) as a result of the development which involves realignment of road junctions, is to remove 2 current sections of road from use by motor vehicles only: (a) The north end of Denchworth Road is being realigned slightly to the east to meet with a new Cane Lane T-junction making a section of the north end of the existing Denchworth Road redundant; (b) A new T-junction for Cane Lane is planned slightly to its south making the westernmost end of the existing Cane Lane redundant. There will continue to be rights of way for pedestrians and cyclists on the closed sections of highway. The effect of Order 3.) is an administrative change only to the schedule of roads to realign with Wantage and Grove parish boundaries respectively. The Oxfordshire County Council (Wantage) (Speed Limits) Order 2011 and the Oxfordshire County Council (Grove Area) (Speed Limits) Order 2011 will be revoked/replaced. NEWLANDS DRIVE, GROVE PROPOSED TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to construct the following traffic calming measures under the Highways Act 1980 section 90 on Newlands Drive at Grove: a) An extended flat top road hump at the bend at the north end of Newlands Drive where it meets Denchworth Road, b) A pair of speed cushions approximately 88 metres north of its junction with Peregrine Way, c) An extended flat top road hump at its junction with Peregrine Way, d) An extended flat top road hump at its junction with Mallard Way, e) A pair of speed cushions approximately 120 metres south of its junction with Mallard Way, f) An extended flat top road hump at its junction with Savile Way, g) An extended flat top road hump at its junction with a new access to residential development on the west side of the road, between the junctions of Savile Way and Columbia Way, h) A pair of speed cushions approximately 75 metres north of its junction with Columbia Way, i) An extended flat top road hump at its junction with Columbia Way, j) A pair of speed cushions approximately 76 metres south of its junction with Columbia Way. The extended flat top road humps will have a nominal height of 75 mm, and ramp gradients of 1:27.     WHITE HORSE HILL CIRCULAR WALK 4¼ miles (6¾ km) – allow 2 hours (see map on final page) Introduction This circular walk within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Oxfordshire is 7 miles (11km) west of Wantage. It takes you through open, rolling downland, small pasture fields with some wonderful mixed hedgerows, woodland and a quintessential English village. It includes a classic section of The Ridgeway, with magnificent views of the Vale of White Horse to the north, and passes the unique site of White Horse Hill before descending the steep scarp slope to the small picturesque village of Woolstone in the Vale. The walk is waymarked with this ‘Ridgeway Circular Route’ waymark. Terrain and conditions • Tracks, field paths mostly through pasture and minor roads. • Quite strenuous with a steep downhill and uphill section. 174m (571 feet) ascent and descent. • There are 9 gates and one set of 5 steps, but no stiles. • Some paths can be muddy and slippery after rain. • There may be seasonal vegetation on the route. Preparation • Wear appropriate clothing and strong, comfortable footwear. • Carry water. • Take a mobile phone if you have one but bear in mind that coverage can be patchy in rural areas. • If you are walking alone it’s sensible, as a simple precaution, to let someone know where you are and when you expect to return.
