OVERVIEW Historical Board Gaming is proud to present the Imperial Elite of the Rising Sun (ERS) Expansion. The Elite Forces of the Japanese military existed mostly of the Special Naval Landing Forces (SNLF). At the start of the war the city of Yokosuka had an important military base and shipyard. The Yokosuka naval district was one of the regions where battleships and carriers were built. The naval base was also home of the three Yokosuka marine paratrooper units of the SNLF, known in Japanese as Rikusentai. Other Japanese Naval Districts also formed (and named) multiple Special Naval Landing Forces. This expansion enables you to take control of Japan’s elite forces, often entering the game at the historical date of entry in World War II. Some units have been formed two times in the Imperial Japanese Naval history. In this expansion the rules use either of two entry dates of these units to spread their entries between the Sino-Japanese War and the Pacific War. The 3D optional Type 2 Ka-Mi units give Yokosuka naval arsenal Japan an extra punch in late war amphibious attacks. Regular Marines and Paratroopers remain available for Japan, but the SNLF Units provide Japan with better options to defend their newly gained possessions. 2. SET CONTENT & OPTIONAL 3D UNITS The ERS expansion contains 30 Markers. The expansion is a Markers only set. The optional units mentioned in this rule set are sold seperately by HBG. -

Construction of MIYASHITA PARK is scheduled for completion in April 2020 and the grand opening is slated for June. Andrei Submitted in partial fulfillment of the Requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Columbia University 2016 © 2016 Talia J.Andrei All rights reserved Abstract Mapping Sacred Spaces: Representations of Pleasure and Worship in Sankei Mandara Talia J. Andrei This dissertation examines the historical and artistic circumstances behind the emergence in late medieval Japan of a short-lived genre of painting referred to as sankei mandara (pilgrimage mandalas). The paintings are large-scale topographical depictions of sacred sites and served as promotional material for temples and shrines in need of financial support to encourage pilgrimage, offering travelers worldly and spiritual benefits while inspiring them to donate liberally. Itinerant monks and nuns used the mandara in recitation performances (etoki) to lead audiences on virtual pilgrimages, decoding the pictorial clues and touting the benefits of the site shown. Addressing themselves to the newly risen commoner class following the collapse of the aristocratic order, sankei mandara depict commoners in the role of patron and pilgrim, the first instance of them being portrayed this way, alongside warriors and aristocrats as they make their way to the sites, enjoying the local delights, and worship on the sacred grounds. Together with the novel subject material, a new artistic language was created— schematic, colorful and bold. We begin by locating sankei mandara’s artistic roots and influences and then proceed to investigate the individual mandara devoted to three sacred sites: Mt. Fuji, Kiyomizudera and Ise Shrine (a sacred mountain, temple and shrine, respectively). -

January 23, 2013 Urban planning proposal for areas surrounding Shibuya Station (plan) Tokyu Corporation East Japan Railway Company Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. Dogenzaka 1-chome Station Front Redevelopment Preparation Association Tokyu Land Corporation Starting with the opening of Shibuya Hikarie in April 2012, progress is being made in the drastic redevelopment of the areas that surround Shibuya Station, a leading terminal in Japan. The plan has been based on such policies as those established when Shibuya Station was designated as a priority development area for urban renaissance in December 2005 or the 2010 Guideline for Shibuya Station Central Area Urban Development (compiled by Shibuya ward in March 2011), and is being implemented in cooperation with the Shibuya Station Area Land Readjustment Project and the Railways Improvement Project. Tokyu Corporation and its partners announce that they have presented to the Governor of Tokyo today an urban planning proposal regarding three projects that are to follow Shibuya Hikarie – the Shibuya Station Area Development Plan, Dogenzaka Area Redevelopment Plan and Shibuya Station South Area Development Project (district 21 in Shibuya 3-chome). The urban planning proposal is for special districts designated for urban renaissance based on the Act on Special Measures Concerning Urban Renaissance. The three projects are being implemented adjacent to each other centering on an area directly above Shibuya Station for the currently operating JR Yamanote, Tokyu Toyoko and Tokyo Metro Ginza lines. They are being coordinated in an integrated manner in order to: 1) form a network for pedestrians that is comfortable and easy to understand by strengthening the function of transportation nodes; 2) adopt an urban function that increases the appeal of the city as the genesis of lifestyle and culture and elevates its international competitiveness; and 3) strengthen the area’s disaster-preventing function and improve the environment. -

Publicity Activities — Events and Seminars IETI holds seminars and symposia for the purpose of encouraging discussion across the Rbroad range of policy issues in which its fellows have carried out research. In fiscal 2001 there were five such policy symposia focusing on structural reform issues, such as social safety nets, bad loans, broadband communications, cooperation between academia and industry, and environmental policy. The Institute often holds Brown Bag Lunch (BBL) Seminars. So far, 84 such lunch-time fora have been held, inviting renowned policy researchers and practitioners in Japan and overseas as lecturers and holding active debates among participants including legislators, bureaucrats, researchers, business people and journalists. RIETI is also active in convening research seminars at which RIETI fellows and outside researchers debate specialized research themes, as well as policy seminars to which those at the forefront of policymaking are invited as lecturers to invoke in-depth discussions on the latest policy issues. *Note: Participants’ titles as of dates of symposia. The Iowan History letter Vol. 5 Number 2 Second Quarter, 2016 The Concrete Initially Fort Drum was planned as a mine control and mine casemate station. However, due to inadequate de- fenses in the area, a plan was devised to level the island, and then build a concrete structure on top of it armed with Battleship two twin 12-inch guns.
