Framatome opens new research and operations center and expands Intercontrôle in , France

Feb. 24, 2020 – held a ceremonial ribbon-cutting event in Cadarache, France, to mark the opening of its new engineering research and operations center and the expansion of Intercontrôle, a Framatome subsidiary that specializes in automated non-destructive testing. More than 100 customers, partners and employees attended the celebration. "It’s an honor to open these new facilities that position us closer to our customers and industry partners, and highlight our people and celebrate their engineering skills," said Catherine Cornand, senior executive vice president of Framatome’s Installed Base Business Unit. "Our team’s expertise allows us to deliver innovative nuclear products and services to our customers worldwide that provide a safe, competitive and low-carbon source of energy." Framatome’s new engineering research and operations center is home to a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for carrying out construction, safety reviews and dismantling projects on behalf of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and TechnicAtome. This team also works on the ITER project, responsible for the installation as part of a consortium with Chinese partners. Cadarache is home to Intercontrôle since the early 1980s. With its expanded facility, Intercontrôle is positioned for growth and will continue to provide specialized services and maintenance, and develop new non-destructive testing solutions. The new facility allows Intercontrôle to continue to provide its services in the region beyond 2030.
