1 A BRIEF We came from Venus In 1967, Van Vlahakis founded Venus Laboratories, Inc. in Bensenville, IL, a bordering suburb of Chicago. Venus Labs specialized in both branded and private branded specialty chemicals for commercial 1967 applications. Van Vlahakis had emigrated from Greece, the birthplace of science, to Chicago where he attended Roosevelt University majoring in Chemistry. He personally formulated each product at IVenus Labs, combining his extensive knowledge of modern chemistry with his Greek upbringing, where healthy living and respecting the environment were everyday priorities.

In the mid-1970s, Venus Laboratories had mastered industry “fi rsts” including the use of orange oil in 1975 and the use of enzymes by 1976. One of the most notable creations that boasts continued popularity is the UniTab® Urinal Screen & Block which earned a patent in 1971. The UniTab was the fi rst leave-in urinal cleaner, maintainer and deodorizer created without using para-dichlorobenzene, a known carcinogen. By the late 1980’s, Venus Laboratories had rapidly grown, showcasing over 250 different formulas. During that time, Venus became known for replacing toxic ingredients with much safer alternatives. In 2009, nearly 38 years after the development of the UniTab, the State of California became the fi rst in the USA to ban the use of para-dichlorobenzene products. Many other states have done the same.

With so many successful ‘fi rsts’, Venus Labs continued growth was refl ected in their expansion to four manufacturing plants across the USA and their blossoming presence in the international distribution channel.

In 1989, Earth Friendly Products was created as brand under the Venus Earth Friendly Products is born Labs umbrella. Success under the Earth Friendly Products name came swiftly as key elements like sustainable, plant-derived ingredients and socially responsible business practices were implemented into the brand 1989 that would soon be coveted by eco and health-conscious consumers. IIn the 1990’s, key conventional grocery distributors joined the natural grocery channel’s choice to include Earth Friendly Products in their collection of cleaners. As a result, by the early 2000’s, Earth Friendly Products became one of the leading green brands. As the demand for green products grew, Venus Laboratories switched names to be Earth Friendly Products in 2007. Subsequently, the company’s top-seller, ECOS laundry detergent, found its space on major box store shelves ® across the USA, Canada and Mexico.

As Earth Friendly Products continued to focus on perfecting its green technologies, ECOS laundry detergent became the top-selling environmentally friendly laundry detergent in the United States and the company was acclaimed for local awards and national achievements such as carbon neutrality, designation as an EPA Green Power Leader and more. The vertically green primary manufacturer boasts manufacturing centers in California, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey and Washington and holds its international sales offi ce in Athens, Greece. As a leader in sustainable business practices, they have also retrofi tted each facility to be eco-friendly and make their products using 100% renewable energy.

More than 70 formulas are specifi cally blended for use in commercial applications either in ready- to-use or concentrated formulas. ECOS Pro products are sold through commercial distribution channels servicing janitorial, offi ce, industrial, TODAY Thardware and foodservice businesses. Ensuring cleaner indoor air quality and an overall healthier environment, are factors that we consider when blending our formulas. Our ECOS Pro line is our commercial product offering. This division of our company was offi cially launched in 2008, replacing the Venus Laboratories product offering. Within this division, we offer over 70 formulas for specifi c commercial cleaning applications. These products Commercial are available in ready-to-use and concentrated formulas packaged in a variety of container sizes. We sell our ECOS Pro products through Off ering Ocommercial distribution which includes janitorial, offi ce, industrial, hardware and foodservice distributors. Our goal within our commercial division is to replace toxic, unhealthy cleaning products at the end-user level through distribution. Our ECOS Pro instantly helps those commercial end-users concerned with worker safety, liability issues, indoor air quality and the overall health of our environment.
