It must encompass economic development, social justice, environmental protection for human rights and the rule of law. The essential ingredients of a genuine culture of peace can only be developed at the level of civil society. That is why the undertaking of a mission like yours is so relevant. He began ballooning in 1979 in hot air balloons and received his gas balloon rating in 1983. He has extensive international ballooning experience with over 2000 hours in hot air, gas and Rozier balloons. Along with partner Kirk S.Thomas, Jacques was a pioneer in the development and popularisation of special shaped balloons, such as the heads of Uncle Sam and Carmen Miranda. A major player on the ballooning world's political stage, Jacques was elected by more than forty countries to serve as President of the Ballooning Commission of the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI), the world's air sport and record setting federation, for nearly four years. He also served as a Vice President of the FAI for six years. Pilot - Crispin J. Williams British pilot, Crispin Williams, lives in Langford, Somerset. He started ballooning in hot air balloons in 1974 with the Anglia Aeronauts Ascension Association after 13 years as a fixed wing pilot, including time in the Royal Air Force as an RAF Navigator. He achieved his private pilot pilot's licence (PPL) in balloons in 1974 and flew in the first UK National Championship in 1975. With his wife and crew chief, Sara, Crispin has attended every UK National Championship since then. An accomplished balloonist, Crispin has been the highest placed pilot at a World Championship and can normally be found in the top ten finishers at European hot air balloon championships..

    The Museum of Modern Art For Immediate Release February 1994 JEANNE MOREAU: NOUVELLE VAGUE AND BEYOND February 25 - March 18, 1994 A film retrospective of the legendary French actress Jeanne Moreau, spanning her remarkable forty-five year career, opens at The Museum of Modern Art on February 25, 1994. JEANNE MOREAU: NOUVELLE VAGUE AND BEYOND traces the actress's steady rise from the French cinema of the 1950s and international renown as muse and icon of the New Wave movement to the present. On view through March 18, the exhibition shows Moreau to be one of the few performing artists who both epitomize and transcend their eras by the originality of their work. The retrospective comprises thirty films, including three that Moreau directed. Two films in the series are United States premieres: The Old Woman Mho Wades in the Sea (1991, Laurent Heynemann), and her most recent film, A Foreign Field (1993, Charles Sturridge), in which Moreau stars with Lauren Bacall and Alec Guinness. Other highlights include The Queen Margot (1953, Jean Dreville), which has not been shown in the United States since its original release; the uncut version of Eva (1962, Joseph Losey); the rarely seen Mata Hari, Agent H 21 (1964, Jean-Louis Richard), and Joanna Francesa (1973, Carlos Diegues). Alternately playful, seductive, or somber, Moreau brought something truly modern to the screen -- a compelling but ultimately elusive persona. After perfecting her craft as a principal member of the Comedie Frangaise and the Theatre National Populaire, she appeared in such films as Louis Malle's Elevator to the Gallows (1957) and The Lovers (1958), the latter of which she created a scandal with her portrayal of an adultress.

    The city’s onscreen prominence is so taken for granted today that it is hard to imagine that as late as 1965, the last year of Robert F. Wagner’s mayoralty, New York hardly appeared in films at all. That year, only two features were shot substantially in the city: The Pawnbroker, an early landmark in the career of veteran New York director Sidney Lumet, and A Thousand Clowns, directed by Fred Coe, which used extensive location work to “open up” a Broadway stage hit of a few years earlier by the playwright Herb Gardner. The big change came with Wagner’s successor, John V. Lindsay—who, soon after taking office in 1966, made New York the first city in history to encourage location filmmaking: establishing a simple, one-stop permit process through a newly created agency (now called the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting), creating a special unit of the Police Department to assist filmmakers, and ordering all city agencies and departments to cooperate with producers and directors (1). The founding of the Mayor’s Film Office—the first agency of its kind in the world—remains to this day one of the Lindsay administration’s signal achievements, an innovation in governance which has been replicated by agencies or commissions in almost every city and state in the Union, and scores of countries and provinces around the world. In New York, it helped to usher in a new industry, now generating over five billion dollars a year in economic activity and bringing work to more than 100,000 New Yorkers: renowned directors and stars, working actors and technicians, and tens of thousands of men and women employed by supporting businesses—from equipment rental houses, to scenery shops, to major studio complexes that now rival those of Southern California.

    CCI3 LITERATURE PROJECTIVE IDENTIFICATION WITH THE ROMA PEOPLE IN BALKAN FILMS Puskás-Bajkó Albina, PhD Student, ”Petru Maior” University of Tîrgu Mureș Abstract: In the cinema of the Balkans Roma people are present at every step. As these films were not directed by Roma specialists, one has the tendency to ask the question: how true are these figures to the real Roma nature and behaviour? And very important: what can we account this ongoing interest in Gipsy culture and life for? Is it curiosity about what seems to otherwise be despised by people or could it possibly be the so-called “projective identification”, an expression extensively used by Jacques Lacan in psychoanalysis? The figure of the Gipsy is omnipresent in the history of Balkan cinema. The first ever Balkan film, shown in foreign countries too was about them: In Serbia: A Gypsy Marriage (1911), the first ever Gypsy film to enter and win an international film festival was from the former Yugoslavia: I Even Met Happy Gypsies (1967), directed by Aleksander Petrovic. It won the “Grand Prix Special”. The image of the Gipsy was, however presented by the non-Roma film-directors in these films. “Rather than being given the chance to portray themselves, the Romani people have routinely been depicted by others.
