In addition, 6 states held high court elections previously this year, for a total of 10 seats. Of those 6 states: o 5 states held nonpartisan elections for 7 seats . Contested nonpartisan elections took place for 4 seats . Uncontested nonpartisan elections took place for 3 seats o 1 state held a retention election for 3 seats o Note: This total includes Oregon, which held an election for two seats earlier this year, but which will also be holding an election for one seat on November 8.
