Early College Opportunities at Bucks County Community College Early College Opportunities at Bucks County Community College Why should high school students consider taking a Bucks course? • Get a head start on college. • Explore potential career paths and academic plans at a lesser cost. • Ease into the college transition. • Consider the outcomes: dual enrollment students graduate from high school, enter college, and succeed in college at greater rates than their nonparticipating peers. What is the enrollment process? 1. Apply at www.bucks.edu/apply 2. Evaluate skills: • Juniors with a 3.25+ cumulative GPA or Seniors with a 3.00+ cumulative GPA can be waived from placement tests. Advising and help are available! 4. Submit High School Approval Form online (or paper version): www.bucks.edu/HSApproval 5. Students who are waived from placement tests based on high school cumulative GPA will be given a writing score of “6” and a reading score of “3”; math placement is based on GPA and whether the student has successfully completed Algebra 2. If a course has additional fees, you’ll see it listed below prerequisites. To view all AP exam equivalencies, please visit https://www.bucks.edu/admissions/prerequisitewaivertransfercredit/ap-credit/ Expectations and Considerations • College-level courses = college transcript. • Emphasis on independent work. • College campus is a mature environment. • High transferability of courses, but we recommend confirming with receiving institution. • Some terms may be accelerated (e.g. summer, winter, modular courses). • Holidays and breaks in college calendar may be different than high school calendar; students follow college calendar. • Financial aid is not available for students before high school graduation. 2017-2018 Transfer Schools Albright College Fayetteville State University Kutztown University Alfred University Clarks Summit University Florida Gulf Coast University La Salle University Allegheny College Clemson University Florida International University Lafayette College Alvernia University Coastal Carolina University Florida State University Le Moyne College Arcadia University College of New Jersey Franciscan University of Steubenville Lehigh University Arizona State University College of Saint Rose George Mason University Liberty University Ashford University Colorado State University George Washington University Lock Haven University Ball State University Columbia College Georgia Institute Of Technology Lone Star College System District Barnard College Columbia Southern University Georgia State University Loyola Marymount University Bethel College Concordia University - This report demonstrates the extraordinary growth in young college-educated residents in Philadelphia and the impact of that growth on our economy and the diversity of our workforce. It is not just the numbers that spell success for Philadelphia. It is the people they represent and the future we are able to build as a result. That future includes: • An economy that is driven by innovation and talent and that opens up more opportunity to more Philadelphians • New people with new ideas driving change, solving problems and challenging traditional ways of doing things • A more globally relevant Philadelphia, with new ties to cities, economies and talent around the world linked to the graduates who stay here We aspire to more than just population and economic growth in Philadelphia, but to growth that builds the diversity of our people, increases opportunity and extends across every zip code. Campus Philly sees a region that has more resources and resilience than it did when the organization was forming in 2000. It’s a region Campus Philly is committed to continuing to build and grow in the years ahead. 4 PHILADELPHIA RENAISSANCE SPONSORS ACKNOWLEDGMENTS Campus Philly recognizes the following Campus Philly could not achieve its mission without the sponsors for their support for this study.
